ocala weather: Ocala area weather October 2009 - 10/13/09 03:00 PM
The weather here in Ocala has been unusually warm for October. As a matter of fact it's been so hot that we have set records for he date several times. Here is how it has been. So far, half way through October, it's been in the low to mid 90's almost every day. It should be in the mid to high 80's and getting dryer all the time. October is also the beginning of the dry season where the afternoon thunderstorms stop, the humidity goes away and it doesn't rain for weeks om end. If you'd like to know more about

ocala weather: Ocala weather June 2009 - 06/24/09 08:21 AM
The weather here in Ocala FL in June is just plain hot and humid. June is the beginning of the wet season here in Ocala. We get regular afternoon thunderstorms caused by winds off the Atlantic colliding with winds off the Gulf of Mexico. June is also the beginning of Hurricane season. Ocala is one of the least hurricane prone areas of the state of Florida. Although I don't really like the humidity I do like a nice hot summer. As I'm fond of saying, the heat and humidity are a small price to pay for no winter. Interested in reading

ocala weather: Ocala weather report May 2009 - 05/04/09 01:12 PM
It's only May 4th and the I can feel the humidity coming back. The temperature hit 90 over the week end, which is hot for this time of year. I hate to turn on the AC so early. I like to finish any outdoor projects by the end of May. Summer in Ocala is for laying by the pool and not doing yard chores except for driving around on the riding lawn mower. All my 2009 Ocala weather reports are now on my other blog at OcalaRealEstateTalk.com Date Palm Flower Ocala Florida May 09

ocala weather: Ocala weather report for June 08 - 07/15/08 09:55 AM
June is the beginning of the rainy season that will last until October. We have the possibility of afternoon thunderstorms almost every day. They are very hit or miss but quite predictable. Winds off the Atlantic collide with winds out of the Gulf of Mexico creating an unstable atmosphere resulting in thunderstorms. Central Florida is the lightning capital of the world. Two years ago lightning hit the ground in my back yard and got into the wires that control my lawn sprinkler system. The electricity followed the wires into the house and blew the sprinkler system timer off the wall and

ocala weather: Ocala weather report and wild fire update for May 2008 - 05/22/08 07:44 AM
May is here and the humidity is coming back. Most days will be close to 90 during the day and the high 60's at night. It's just a little humid and I find myself turning on the AC most afternoons. We are in the "dry season". It hasn't rained a drop in over a month. This is unusually dry even for the dry season which ends at the end of May. You probably see terrible wild fires in other parts of Florida. In the 4 years I've been in Ocala we have never had a major fire. A couple of

ocala weather: Ocala Weather Report for April 2008 - 04/09/08 10:03 AM
It's April in Ocala Florida. As you probably know I don't actually predict the weather, I just give you an idea of what the weather is like from month to month here in Ocala. The highs are in the mid 80's and the nights are in the low 60's. It is still pretty dry. It's actually the dry season but so far this month we have had quite a bit of much needed rain. The trees are getting new leaves, the azeale's are in bloom and wild flowers are growing along the sides of rural roadways. Why are you freezing uo

ocala weather: Ocala weather report for March 2008 - 03/12/08 01:03 PM
Early March has been kind of cool here in Ocala. by that I mean just barely 70 some days and it was in the mid 30's at night a couple of times. That's cool for March in Ocala. We should be in the high 70's this time of year. No the less the grass, which gets brown in the winter, is getting green again. The azalea bushes are in flower and the live oaks will be setting some more leaves. It's a great time of year, plenty of sunshine and no humidity. AZALEA in Joe's Yard March 4,2008 If you'd

ocala weather: Ocala Weather Report for February 2008 - 02/13/08 01:07 PM
In other parts of the country February is the dead of winter but here in Ocala spring is just around the corner. First I will recap January. It seemed warmer than normal but we did have a hard frost that burned several shrubs that I pruned too late and didn't harden off in time. Winter in Ocala is basically a series of cold fronts. A cold front will come through, it will get in the 30's at night and the 50's or 60's during the day and then we go back to what is winter normal, 50's at

ocala weather: Ocala weather report for January 2008 - 01/07/08 09:25 AM
As you probably know I don't predict the weather I just give people from other areas an idea of what Ocala weather is like from month to month. January is one of our coldest months. The first week of the month we had a cold front that brought us the coldest temperatures in 5 years. At my house in SW Ocala we had temperatures in the high 20's and a hard frost accompanied by 2 or 3 days where the day time temps were in the 50's and 60's. Winter in Ocala is normally in the 70's except for cold

ocala weather: November Weather Report for Ocala Florida - 11/21/07 10:24 AM
The purpose of my monthly weather reports isn't to predict the weather. I just try to give people from other parts of the country an idea of what Ocala's weather is line from one month to the next. The weather is cooling down and all the humidity has gone. People from up north seem to think it's always humid here in Florida. In Ocala the humidity is here from May until October and then it dries out. I've even had people from the mid west tell me it's not as humid in Ocala in the middle of the summer as it

ocala weather: Ocala weather report for October 2007 - 10/16/07 02:25 PM
Well October isn't exactly fall here in Ocala Florida. We do however begin to cool down. The day time temperatures are now in the mid 80's and the nights in the 60's. Later in the month we can leave our doors and windows open for fresh air and to escape the cost of running the central air. Once again we seem to have had a year without a single hurricane here in Florida. Despite a tremendous amount of gloom and doom predictions early in the year by experts who always seem to be wrong. Of course Ocala has never actually

ocala weather: Ocala weather report for September 2007 - 09/13/07 07:12 AM
As you may know if you're read my previous weather posts, I don't actually predict the weather. After all no one gets paid so much to be wrong so often as a weatherman. Instead I give folks thinking about relocating to Ocala Florida a general idea of what the weather is like month to month. In September the major thing dominating the weatherr is if Florida will get hit by a hurricane or not. This is the height of hurricane season and although Ocala has never suffered a direct hit we are never the less concerned. We do get tropical storms

ocala weather: Ocala Florida Weather for April 2007 - 04/03/07 03:28 PM
This is for all those people up there in the Great White North waiting for spring. The only help that I can offer is MOVE to OCALA FLORIDA !! As I sit here writing my blog in my shorts and bare feet it's 86 degrees. Now that is unseasonably warm for this time of year but who cares. It sure beats the hell out of snow and ice. Wouldn't you rather be sitting here, with the doors open, enjoying the warm weather than freezing wherever you are up north? Why not move to Ocala Florida. We have the 2nd lowest
