This was my response to J Philip Faranda’s post from March 31st Why I Will Happily Shell Out the 40 Bucks Ok Phil, my turn to give a little food for thought. I give money to RPAC and take a day off from my business every year to travel to our state capitol to lobby the legislative issues that come before our industry. I also belong to my local government affairs committee and am a key legislative contact for our state minority leader in the state senate. Now before I start with my humbled opinion, I must disclose that what I’m about to say is of my sole opinion and not that of the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors. In today’s edition of Inman News it is reported the National Association of Realtors is contemplating a dues increase of $40 in 2012 and 2013 with the intent of raising $80 million for political advocacy.I donate what I can to RPAC because I have seen first hand the benefits it brings to real estate legislation on the national, state and local levels. I'm sure most of us have heard the radio and television commercials from the National Association of Realtors regarding home ownership. As a consumer or Realtor do you think the commercials are painting an accurate description of the Real Estate Industry. I would love to hear your thoughts. nathional association of realtors: What to do When Professional Standards Are Not Professional? - 01/06/11 06:19 PM
You never can tell when a discussion regarding professional standards for Realtors might pop up. I was watching a Chicago Blackhawks game at a local watering hole with some of my Br Rice alumni last night when the shirt I was wearing started a conversation regarding professional standards amongst Realtors. My brand new button-down, shirt with the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors anniversary logo caught the eye of "Bob" who asked me what was Mainstreet? I explained to him that is was a local organization for Realtors and that I had just attended a professional standards workshop. By the look
