andover: New light by the Sherriff's Office - 12/09/10 07:43 PM
They have been working on it for a few months now but, today they turned on the light at Hanson and 133rd. This intersection definitely needed a light as people turn left there from every direction. At times there could several cars there waiting to turn left from every possible angle. You reall had to think through what each car would do as they moved through the intersection and then decide if you could proceed safely. Between the addition of the new Sherriff's office and the new entry into Wedgewood neighborhood, the traffic count was very high. Plus on those fall

andover: Legacy vs Southwest - 09/16/10 09:11 PM
Legacy played down in Victoria against rival Southwest Christian today. The game was well played at went back and forth with SW scoring first. Junior forward Allie Franzen scored next, in her first game of the season after missing time from a missions trip in Africa. Southwest added another goal in the first half. Southwest came out strong after half and scored another goal, seemingly putting the game out of reach. A hand ball on the SW goalie was called after a save out of the box. Senior Callie Ryan quickly set the ball down and wisely put it in the

andover: Meadow Creek's final home game ever! - 05/14/10 09:35 AM
After getting rained out on Tuesday and the rain never letting up until 1 pm Thursday, our final home game ever may not occur. There was several inches of water on the field including over home and 2nd base. Our grounds wents went to work and created a scene out of the movie "holes". I arrived early to see how bad the field was going to be and to help out. Most of the water was gone by then but the field was still quite soupy. We started by filling in the batter boxes with drier clay by the backstop. We

andover: Meadow Creek Saints Softball Game 6 - 04/22/10 08:01 PM
What a great day for softball! A long drive out to Lester Prairie today. The girls hit well from the start including a home run by Katie. Lester Prairie played a strong defensive game and caught us running a few times. We scored 2 runs in the first inning and were looking good. Lester Prairie dialed it up a notch though scoring 7 times and batting around. We scored another run in the 2nd and slowed them down a little. maddie had the most put outs in the game. The girls ended up on the short end falling 13-3 to a

andover: Meadow Creek Saints Softball Game 2 - 04/15/10 07:48 PM
Now that was fun. We started off slow again scoring 1 run in each of the 3 innings and then allowing 3 in the 3rd to SW Christian. But from there on we just kept scoring and shut them down completely. Every girl in the batter order scored at least once. Kia pitched a great game. Stephanie led the team with 3 RBIs. Amy's hot streak at the plate continued as she has only been retired once all season. Kelly had a great game at short and the plate. Katie put a punctuation mark on the game with a HR in

andover: Meadow Creek Saints Softball Game 1 - 04/14/10 11:20 AM
Our ladies started off a little shaky giving up 6 runs in the first 2 innings. Once they shook off the rust they were able to outscore West Lutheran 3-1 in the final 5 innings. In their first game of the year they appear ready to improve on last years results. They had some great defensive plays and ran the bases well once they were on. A few more hits and a stronger start and they should win alot more games this year. Next up Southwest Christian on Thursday and Como tourney on Saturday Go SAINTS!

andover: Meadow Creek Saints Volleyball - 10/17/09 10:50 AM
Wow! 1st place in the Mora invitational. The girls did a great job in winning this tournament. They quickly dispatched St Cloud Apollo, then Pillager. North Branch in the semi finals was not able to keep up with our team. Finally it was Maple Lake in the finals. The first game was won by 2 points and the battle continued into the 2nd game. That one was also 25-23 giving the Lady Saints their first tourney win of the season ad priming them for a long run to state. Orono came to our court on Tuesday the 13th. This was

andover: MCCS Volleyball SubSection Champions! - 10/31/08 04:55 PM
After watching New Life Academy almost knock off Southwest Christian in their sub section final, the Meadow Creek Christian School girls volleyball team took the court against Heritage Christian. We were expecting to win coming in as the #1 seed and having beat them earlier this year. The Heritage team had a different plan though. After MCCS took an early lead in game one, they quickly found themselves in big trouble, down 23-17. Rolly called a timeout and Kelly Strandland rotation to serve was up. MCCs then rattled off the next 8 points to win 25-23. Heritage was not to be

andover: Hanson is finally done! - 10/31/08 04:39 PM
Wow, the 3 legged milk stool award goes to the Hanson Blvd construction team. The project was originally slated to start last spring and be done not long after the bridge over 10 was done. That project was done by July 07 but the Hanson Blvd road widening project hadn't even started yet. After enduring 6 months of Hanson being closed last year we thought the end was near. No such luck however as the intersections with County 14 (242) and Bunker had yet to be started. I have watched a lot of construction projects over the years and you can

andover: The market is heating up! - 06/25/08 03:24 PM
Wow, the last 2 homes I have bid on have had multiple offers on them. I haven't seen that in a few years now. The homes in the $150,000 to $200,000 range are moving like hot cakes all of a sudden. A search in Andover and Coon Rapids in this price range shows 27 pending sales out of 100 homes. I would normally expect 5-10 max. Let me know of are ready to buy your first home or potentially an investment property. Make sure your home is "SOLD by Friday!" JoelFridayHomes.com Joel Friday 612-868-6287

andover: Bike ride in a dust storm? - 05/17/08 07:18 PM
My wife and I headed out for our usual Bunker Hills Park bike ride. The skies were partly cloudy and a few rain drops had fallen but we saw a clearing and decided to go. After crossing Bunker Lake on the bridge we turned back to the west. The sky was black but mostly to the North. I though we could finish our run so we kept on our route. Once we reached the entrance of the park the black sky was still North and appeared like we were OK. The trail heads back to the North side of the park

andover: Bunker Bike ride - 05/14/08 08:30 PM
Finally went out for a bike ride today. It has been a few weeks since I have been out. We took the new tunnel under Hanson Blvd. and then followed Hanson North to Bunker Lake Blvd. The road construction in the area made us ride a little to close to traffic for about a mile. Once we passed the construction, we entered Bunker Park on some of the best trails in the state. The trail takes you across Bunker Lake on a floating bridge. Rolling terrain makes this ride a little more challenging than the rail bed trails that are all

andover: Woodland Meadows - 05/06/08 09:44 PM
Woodland Meadows was built in the late 80's and early 90's with large 2+ acre lots and a variety of homes. Nestled in with pines, oaks and rolling terrain. This is a very quiet neighborhood. All of the schools serving this neighborhood were built in the past 10 years. Rum River Elementary is a short walk. Oak View Middle School and Andover High School are within 3 miles. Homes in Andover vary from the traditional single family, to multi unit townhomes. The prices range from $180,000 to $500,000+. The recent boom in housing added over 50% of the homes in Andover. Andover sits

andover: Hanson Blvd blast - 04/25/08 05:48 PM
Hanson Blvd reconstruction kicks off in full force on Monday, according to the flashing signs. This road will be a mess until the construction is completed in August. Use other routes as the intersections at 14 and Bunker will rebuilt. Traffic already is at a stand still at rush hour and will only get worse.

andover: Construction in full swing in Blaine - 04/07/08 08:39 PM
The highway 65 and county road 14 bridge project already has county 14 closed at highway 65 until late August. Detours around the area are posted to use Highway 10. That is a long way out of your way. I suggest Bunker Lake Blvd. to the north and county 12 (109th Ave) to the south. Hanson Blvd construction in Coon Rapids and Andover will start up shortly to make Hanson a 4 lane highway from County 14 past Bunker Lake Blvd.
