Facebook users put out a challenge to post what you were thankful for each day until Thankgiving. I decided to take the challenge and it was a lot easier than I thought. Here are my daily posts for the challenge in reverse order.
I am thankful that God has provided for my business this year as my Sun Microsystem job went away.

As a frequent blogger on the 35W river project, I had to be one of the first people to cross the new bridge. My wife and I went to pick up my car at Orr Auto in Eden Prairie yesterday morning. 35W was a few miles further but we went that way and crossed around 7am, about 2 hours after the bridge opened.
I brought my daughter to the airport the morning of July 31st 2007. There was quite a bit of construction on the bridge that day. one lane in each direction was closed. Little did I know that we … (0 comments)

The Interstate 35W St. Anthony Falls Bridge is scheduled to open to public traffic during the week of September 15, the Minnesota Department of Transportation announced today. "Throughout the rebuilding process, we have kept the memories of the victims of last August's bridge collapse in our thoughts and prayers," said Mn/DOT Commissioner Tom Sorel. "This bridge has been built to the highest possible safety standards and is coming in ahead of schedule and on budget. We're looking forward to seeing motorists using the new bridge next week." After attending our worship service at Constance Free this morning, we headed down to the Metrodome today. The Twins were playing the Mariners for the final game of the series. The Twins had won the first 2 games and started out with 5 runs in the bottom of the first. As we have seen though, no lead is safe against the Mariners. The Twins kept building the lead to 8-0 and then the Mariners started their comeback. They scored 4 times with 3 home runs, ending Glen Perkins night in the 6th. As Maxwell Smart might say "Missed it by that much!" That is how close the span is from being completed for the Nrthbound lanes. They are claiming to have both spans complete yet this month and hope to have i-35W open again shortly after Labor Day. We heard a report that the cables on Big Ben (the crane lifting the segments up to the bridge) snapped yesterday, slowing progress alittle. Luckily they weren't lifting a segment at the time.

We just went down to Minneapolis to see the progree on the new river bridge. They were doing walking tour and explaing the process used to build the bridge when we were there. Building the span with no visible support is truly amazing. The main span across the river will be free of supporting structure for over 500 feet. The have pre cast 120 sections that will eventually create the span and road deck. On the south side they have 7 segments installed already and just placed another segment prior to our arrival. 46th Street bridge to close on April 25
ROSEVILLE, Minn. - As part of the Interstate 35W/Highway 62 Crosstown reconstruction project, the 46th Street bridge is scheduled to be demolished the weekend of April 25.
To prepare for the bridge demolition, lane closures on the bridge will occur from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23 and Thursday, April 24. The bridge will close at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, April 25. The 46th Street bridge is scheduled to re-open in summer 2009.
