If you are thinking about retiring and moving to Florida in the next few years, you might want to get the book by Ryan Erisman titled "Florida For Boomers."
I'm sure that every state has its own process, procedures, terminology, and pitfalls to avoid in the real estate market, and Florida is no exception. We have a spotted past when it comes to "luring" northerners to our State for the purpose of retiring, so Mr. Erisman has produced the first real guide to Florida For Boomers.

Today I want to mention an issue that has been around forever, and warn you about a sloppy solution that is most-often recommended by real estate agents involved in the transaction. The issue in question is how to best handle occupancy prior to closing in a real estate transaction. When a buyer needs the ability to take occupancy prior to the actual date of closing on the property, a document is needed to make sure that both parties are protected from the various things that can go wrong in a real estate transaction.

Five months in a row we have seen year over year home sales improve in Florida. This is good. This is wonderful. But this has not yet made it uphill to Tallahasseee. Last week we reported in the Tallahassee Real Estate Blog that Tallahassee had just experienced 31 straight months of year-over-year declines in home sales.
Tallahassee has always seemed to lag the rest of Florida in the housing market. In 2006, when other markets were reporting incredible drops in home sales, Tallahassee was still holding on to remnants of the boom market. I remember thinking “our market is more stable … (0 comments)

The buzz around town (at least in my Tallahassee Real Estate world) is everybody speculating about what the Tallahassee housing market is going to do this year. In yesterday’s blog, I summarized Dr. Hank Fishkind’s 2009 Real Estate Forecast for the State of Florida, as well as what his expectations are for the Tallahassee real estate market. Every month, the Florida Association of REALTORs releases its monthly Florida Real Estate Report to all of its members. The report is compiled by gathering information from all of the Multiple Listing Services in the State of Florida. This is the best report for looking at the different areas of Florida through the same metrics, but it is not as accurate for Tallahassee as what we produce here in our Tallahassee Real Estate Market Report. There is a lot of talk about the next big boom heading to the Florida real estate market. Have you heard?So much of Florida real estate, especially near the beaches, has appreciated so highly that it is hard for working families to buy a home.
