What title do you give yourself? - 01/31/07 03:36 PM
Do you even have a title?  If you have one, do you use it everywhere your name is printed?
I received an email from another Realtor yesterday who used the title
Master Sales Professional
I sometimes use Realtor or Full Time Professional Realtor or maybe even a Marketing or Sales Consultant from time to time.  Every once in a while I may even throw in a Midtown Property Specialist or some such thing but nothing has really stuck. At first I laughed about the Master Sales Professional title but now I'm not so sure it's that funny.  It may even be clever.  A quick … (1 comments)

When Selling your Home, Disclose and then Disclose some more - 01/30/07 11:23 AM
This ran in a Dear Abbey type of Real Estate Column Recently and I couldn't agree more with the answer to the question . . . . When in doubt, DISCLOSE!  Not so much because you're afraid of being sued, but because it's the right thing to do.  If you're selling your home, chances are you may be buying a home too.  Wouldn't you want to know about a diseased tree, or a leaky gutter or an old cistern in the back yard, or funny thing about the downstairs bathroom outlet or the crack in the basement wall behind the entertainment … (0 comments)

Showers vs Bathtubs -- Does it matter for resale value? - 01/25/07 12:15 PM
Considering remodeling or selling your home?  Is it better to have a shower or bathtub in the bathroom?  It's a fairly common concern from Sellers on a resale angle and from buyers on a preference angle.  The long and short of it is that the most important thing to buyers is that it's there at all.
Not too many folks will consider a home with only one bath unless maybe there is room to add one on the first floor. (Clintonville and Grandview have bad reputations for only having one bath but that has been turning around over the last few … (0 comments)

Central Ohio home sales drop 9% in December '06 - 01/24/07 03:45 PM
In the overall scheme of things, does this monthly statistical salad of home sales and comparisons mean anything to you, the buyer or seller, right now?  Well, maybe if you're a seller and taking solace in other people's higher days on market and lower sales prices makes you feel better about your own.
If you're a buyer, what are you doing reading this? Get out there and buy a home today before the market evens out and interst rates go up.  In the end, both buyers and sellers have to negotiate their own path, hopefully with an informed Realtor.  While I've said thousands … (0 comments)

Is it OK to write an offer on the first house you see? - 01/23/07 03:16 PM
YES, it's OK to write an offer on the first house you see.
The other day I met with a great couple who were getting ready to buy their first home in the Clintonville area.  They were referred to me by their friends who I loved working with so I thought I would enjoy working with them also.   As I was giving them my spiel about the home buying process, I mentioned that it was OK to buy the first home we see together.  One of them said that's how they found their current apartment and that one worked that way but … (0 comments)

The new home of the Columbus Homes Blog? - 01/23/07 02:13 PM
Welcome to my ancillary blog which will pretty much be an exact duplicate of my real life blog (see link to the right).  I'm not sure how I'll run things here but probably I will be doing some cutting and pasting with some potential for bonus blogging on my Active Rain Site.
While I have been actively blogging about Real Esate for some time now, in the last 6 months or so I've really begun to go at it.  I have much to learn though in regard to SEO, networking, and actually getting a client or two who read something I wrote … (2 comments)
