Sunday was a good PR day for me. I was included in 2 Real Estate News Stories in local newspaper.
I was quoted in the (Memphis) Commercial Appeal in a business article: Realtors get Web-savvy to keep up with buyers, but find personal skills still matter, about the changes the internet have brought to the real estate business. My emphasis was mostly on social media, but I think reporter, Don Wade did a good job on the article.

Local news channel WHBQ- Fox 13, featured me in a piece about Twitter. Although I didn't have any editorial control, I think the product is pretty good. They didn't use any of my preaching about using Social Media as a way to engage, and not just do more push marketing, but I thought that theme came through. Hopefully the non-tweeting public learned that there is a little more to Twitter than what you had for breakfast, and where you are going for dinner. Probably the last city of this size to be scanned and photographed by those funny looking vehicles, Memphis is now included in Google Street View. Go to Google Maps or Google Earth to have a look at your home, business or favorite place in Memphis.I found my house. And here's my listing at 257 Madison - (seems to be a little error looking up the address, but the onscreen navigation lets you move down the street, turn corners, look up, and explore.) Pretty cool.

Noticed how the local newspaper looks a little thinner lately? It is especially obvious to me in Sunday Real Estate supplement. It's not just the current economic situation that is causing the decreased amount of print advertising, it is marketers changing their tactics in favor of online media.
I have posted before on permission marketing vs. interruption marketing, and the trends indicated in the chart courtersy of Marketing Sherpa, support a more permission based approach as we see a significant reduction of traditional interruption techniques: direct mail, radio/tv, spam email, and print advertising.
