When I first saw the sign for Roosters Men's Grooming Center in Arvada, I thought it looked like such a fun place that I called my daughter and asked her to take her son there for his first haircut (whenever she was ready to take that big step, of course!).

My husband and I have been great friends with Dee and her husband Kerry, for a number of years. Sadly, Kerry passed away, leaving all of us feeling lost and full of grief.

There are no Meadowglen homes currently under contract.
Four homes sold in Meadowglen in the past six months. Their selling prices were from a low of $187,000 to $279,900. None of them were a foreclosure or short sale.

There are two Wyndham Park homes currently under contract. One was listed at $400,000 when it went under contract but started at $450,000. The other was listed at $484,950 when it went under contract and it started at $494,950.

Over the last two days, the Denver area (including my home town of Arvada) experienced The Big Snow of 2009 - that's what I'm calling it, in hopes that it's the only one. No, I don't like snow. Yet it's a part of our lives here in Colorado. The good news is, it usually doesn't stay on the ground here in town very long, especially early and late snow falls.
But for those of your who looooove snow - even after it melts here you don't have to go far to find it, so no worries!

The story of Arvada begins with the discovery of gold in 1850, and the rail lines that followed soon after. Trains of the Colorado Central Railroad passed through the Arvada village twice a day. Passengers could travel east to Denver or west into the mountains as far as Black Hawk and Railroad Street became a thriving business area.

Last weekend I got together with some friends and headed west from Arvada to Boulder to get some beautiful, sweet-scented additions for our gardens. The iris farm was our destination, it was about a 25 minute drive, and we had a great time.

I never thought I'd have much to say about tornadoes, living as I do in Arvada, Colorado between Denver and Boulder. I've lived here 15 years, and only heard of small tornadoes way out east in the farm lands. But as you know if you've seen the news the past couple of days, we have six or seven tornadoes on Thursday, and one of them was a biggie!
