arvada colorado: Fourth of July Fireworks in Denver - 07/04/10 11:38 AM
Last night I had the pleasure of enjoying fireworks with my family and a few friends in Denver, with the beautiful City and County Building in the picture. The Colorado Symphony Orchestra entertained a crowd of over 5,000 before the light show started, vendors sold food and goodies. We got sprinkled by rain drops a couple of times, but they conveniently stopped before the explosions of light began.
One of my favorite moments was when the orchestra played the National Anthem and everyone stood up. I've been in crowds over the last few years that neglected to do that, and it … (4 comments)

arvada colorado: Friday Funnies - Signs Gone Wrong - 03/05/10 09:10 AM
My son-in-law pronounced this sign an 'epic fail' and memorialized it with a click of his iPhone.  I'm sure the person who made the sign knew what they MEANT to say, they just left out a detail here and there. It's in front of a large and busy grocery store here in Arvada.

arvada colorado: Spotted in Arvada - How NOT to Market Your Business - 02/24/10 04:35 PM
I was minding my own business in Arvada, CO (a historic small town between Denver and Boulder) when I saw this car in front of me at a red light the other day, and thought it was one of the funniest things I'd seen in a while.  You may not believe it's real, but it was.
Adverising financial services on the tail of a beat-up car, so cluttered it looks like people may be living in it, reminds me of some marketing photos of homes for sale.
Such a perfect example of how NOT to market your services, I just couldn't … (10 comments)

arvada colorado: Most 'whacked' Christmas gift - 11/29/09 09:50 AM
I rarely write completely unlrelated-to-real-estate posts, but I thought of the AR group, "Whacked", when I saw this item in the Solutions catalog.
A digital camera on a pet collar. You set it to snap pictures every few minutes, up to 40. So you know what your pet was up to all day, of course!
And only $49.95 + shipping.
Wow - I think I'll take another look at that World Vision gift catalog!  With the kind of junk retailers offer at Christmas, I think most people really don't need to buy anything at all.
This is my dog, Daphne. She's … (18 comments)

Yes, this is my 100th real estate-related blog post about buying and selling homes between Denver and Boulder.  I can't believe it!  Blogging seemed so hard at first - such a huge learning curve. But now, I take my camera everywhere I go, and jot down ideas all the time. I have a list of ideas for posts yet to be written.

Best of all, I've met some wonderful people via blogging. I had a buyer close week before last, one closing tomorrow and another under contract, who all found me online.

arvada colorado: Arvada Life - We've Got Trains - Between Denver and Boulder - 10/19/08 07:05 PM

One thing about Arvada, Colorado (an historic town between Denver and Boulder) - it’s criss-crossed by train tracks.  Arvada’s history is intertwined with that of this nation’s rail system.  And whether you love ‘em or hate ‘em, the sound of train horns are a part of life in Arvada.

People who live very close to the tracks tell me they get used to the sound, but not everyone feels the same at midnight or two a.m.!
