We visited Scrumptious on a recent Saturday, and it was a busy spot. Nice to see all the people stopping by, getting a treat.
I've heard about this new ice cream shop, and if that's all it was it would be worth a visit. The ice cream is all made on the premises.
But the store is also well-stocked with old time favorite candies and sodas.

I received this note today from a past client:
"So I went house hunting the other day with a friend of mine and her agent. I tell you, this guy was on the phone with other clients the entire friggin' time and it was so incredibly rude. I knew you were awesome, but after watching this dude in action, it made me just that much more thankful we had you. :)"
Getting that note sure made me feel good!
But it also made me wonder - what is this guy thinking? And how many other agents do business this way?

My first day spa experience was last weekend at Oasis Day Spa in Arvada. (My daughter thought last weekend was Mother's Day, so I got my gift early!)
What a lovely place!
My first thought while enjoying the soothing decor was, "Places like this must be why women live longer!"
My daughter and I had a great time getting spoiled, but I have to say just as we were about to leave a man came in, his wife had given him a pedicure for a birthday present. Of course, lots of men go to Oasis Day Spa for massages too.

Colorado, like most states, is having a tough time making ends meet, forcing difficult decisions. Anyone who's been paying even the slightest attention knows large cuts were made to our schools.
I don't have school-aged kids any more, but I do know a lot of wonderful folks who live or teach in Arvada. So it feels quite personal to hear about the sacrifices these dedicated, generous people make.

My life here between Denver and Boulder is blessed with several truly wonderful friends, and one of my Arvada buddies is Dee Harwick. (Yes, even a real estate agent can have time for friends!)
My husband and I have been great friends with Dee and her husband Kerry, for a number of years. Sadly, Kerry passed away, leaving all of us feeling lost and full of grief.
One of the dreams Dee and Kerry shared, was to travel. What now, we wondered - would Dee have to give up that dream, or travel alone?

I live in Arvada, one of the cities between Denver and Boulder and I’ve noticed while reading a lot of public forums, people thinking of moving to central Colorado always seem to wonder which is better, to live in Denver or Boulder?
There are problems with both, of course – expense being #1!
I always wonder, what about all the lovely towns between Denver and Boulder? Especially since, often the person asking will be working in Denver and someone else in the household will be working in Boulder, or vice-versa. The cost of housing is less in the 'between' cities, and … (3 comments)

How much is a community garden worth to Arvada?
Arvada Gardeners have been building community and providing food both for themselves AND the Arvada food bank in the same spot for over 40 years. Now, the City (AURA - Arvada Urban Renewal Authority) might take the property, for the benefit of private builders and the taxes it will bring in (an apartment complex).

Growing a vegetable garden in the Denver to Boulder area requires starting most seeds indoors, due to our short season. This is for those folks who aren't satisfied with the plant selection at the local nursery, like me! I'm detailing a few tips for successfully starting seed indoors.

Can we re-blog AR posts on our other blogs, or should we get separate permission for that?
I re-blogged an AR post today that I think is a really good one for the public. But my WordPress blog (AboutArvada.com) actually gets more hits than my AR blog. So I'd like to put it on there too, with full acknowledgement of source.
In this case, I will ask specific permission to do that first, but I'm wondering if that's really necessary, if the author has already clicked the 'Allow others to re-blog this post' button.

The Colorado Real Estate Commission is a State agency that has oversight of real estate agents and practices here in CO. A lot of people don't realize the difference between the Real Estate Commission and Realtor associations.
I belong to the National Association of Realtors, the Colorado Association of Realtors, and the Jefferson County Association of Realtors. These are organizations funded by and run by Realtors. A real estate agent is not supposed to use the term, 'Realtor', unless they belong to the proper associations.

Cleaned up spam comments on my WordPress blog
Explored software that I think will be really helpful for managing my rental properties, from a company called Rentec (an AR member)
Reviewed my posts for this challenge, because it feels like like I have started several things, but not tied up the loose strings. I discovered it wasn't as bad as I thought, I still need to get postcards printed and mailed, and set up the campaigns well, so that when I get busy again I won't let them slide.
