family events: Colorado Balloon Festival - Snowmass - 01/22/12 11:31 AM

My hubby and I went to our first hot air balloon festival, after many years of wanting to attend one. It was nice to find one so close to home ('home' is the town of Arvada, about midway between Denver and Boulder), so we could go on the spur of the moment.
It was the Snowmass Balloon Festival. (Snowmass is just outside of Aspen.) on September 16-18, 2011, so we also got to enjoy autumn's colorful show of changing aspen leaves.

Summer is on the wane, and I haven't written all the posts I wanted to about things to do between Denver and Boulder. I CAN'T let you miss out on visiting Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison CO.
One of my favorite things is to visit Red Rocks Amphitheater for any reason at all. We take out of town guests when there isn't even anything going on. We're never alone, it's a favorite local spot for hanging out, picniking, hiking and biking, and imagining yourself onstage in front of a huge crowd.
