snow: Get Your Garden Ready for the Snow - Gardening Denver to Boulder - 10/25/11 09:51 AM

Yesterday was 80 degrees, today will be cooler but still a lovely day, and tomorrow - SNOW!! Up to 3 inches here in the small towns between Denver and Boulder.
Our weather forecasts are usually pretty accurate as far as getting snow goes, but not the amounts. I'm almost more worried about the gardens of my Arvada home when they forecast a 'dusting' than a foot!
Anyway, I got this email yesterday from O'Tooles Garden Center in Westminster, CO and I thought I'd pass their tips along. There are a few of my tips below these.

snow: Clear Snow from the Steps and Sidewalks of Your Colorado Home - 11/14/10 09:36 PM

I'm not certain about all the codes for every city between Denver and Boulder, but the ones I do know deem it the responsibility of the owner or occupant of property adjacent to public sidewalks to keep them open all winter. Certainly in Arvada, that's the rule. All sidewalks are to be cleared of snow and ice within 24 hours after the snowstorm stops.
Some people are really good about it, and get their walkways clear right away. I like to believe it's because they're concerned about their neighbors' safety and convenience, and not just because they're afraid of getting fined.

snow: Arvada Livin' - How Our Doggies Deal With the Snow - 10/30/09 02:09 PM

Over the last two days, the Denver area (including my home town of Arvada) experienced The Big Snow of 2009 - that's what I'm calling it, in hopes that it's the only one. No, I don't like snow. Yet it's a part of our lives here in Colorado. The good news is, it usually doesn't stay on the ground here in town very long, especially early and late snow falls.
But for those of your who looooove snow - even after it melts here you don't have to go far to find it, so no worries!
