NORTHSTAR. is it's name, and flies from water.

I BUILT THIS PLANE FROM A KIT ( A BOX OF STICKS AND SOME STAMPED OUT PARTS). I HAVE BUILT MANY PLANES OVER THE YEARS AND IF YOU LIKE THE SMELL OF CUTTING AND SHAPING WOOD, YOU WOULD LOVE THIS HOBBY. THE CUSTOM OF BUILDING OF PLANES BY INDIVIDUALS IS NOT DONE AS MUCH ANY MORE. IN THE PAST 10 YEARS (MORE OR LESS)  ARF   (ALMOST READY TO FLY) PLANES ARE BEING BUILT IN FACTORIES  AND SOLD IN HOBBY STORES. SOME OF THE EARLY ARF'S WERE MADE OF LIGHT WEIGHT AND BRITTLE PLASTIC AND DID NOT LAST VERY LONG. TODAY THE FACTORY BUILT PLANES ARE ALSO MADE OF BALSA WOOD AND PLYWOOD AND OTHER MISCELLANEOUS WOODS, PLASTICS, AND METALS. THESE PLANES HOLD UP VERY WELL. OF COURSE THIS ALWAYS DEPENDS ON THE PILOT.  ONE SHOULD NEVER TRY TO FLY A MODEL WITHOUT AN INSTRUCTOR, YOU WOULD PROBABLY CRASH. IT IS VERY EASY TO GET A PLANE TO TAKE OFF FROM THE GROUND, GETTING IT BACK ON THE GROUND IN ONE PIECE IS THE CHALLENGE.

Summer is just about gone.  The wind is howling and a little damp this morning. I live on Lake Chemung and the water is bouncing around like crazy.
