Each year, last Monday in May we celebrate Memorial Day holiday gather with family and friends, attend parades, and honor those who lost their lives for our freedom. This year Memorial Day will take place on Monday, May 28th, 2012. Memorial Day was first observed on May 30, 1868, flowers were placed on soldiers graves at Arlington National Cemetery. New York was the first state to officially recognize the holiday in 1873. On May 22, 2012 National Association of Realtors® (NAR) reported that nationwide existing home sales in April of 2012 increased 3.4% from March of 2012, and 10.0% higher than April of 2011. Investors bought 20% of the inventory in April of 2012, lower than 21% in March of 2012, but same as in April of 2011. First time buyers acquired 35% of homes in April of 2012, higher than 33% March of 2012, but lower than 36% from April of 2011. On May 15, 2012, California Association of Realtors (C.A.R) reported that home sales in California were higher 10.0% to 555,300 homes from , from March of 2012, and 11.0% from April 2011. There were 4.2 months supply of available inventory homes in April 2012, almost same as March of 2012, but lower than 5.6 months supply from April of 2011. On average, it took 49.3 days to sell a home in April of 2012, compared with 53.2 days for the same time in April of 2011. C.A.R. Foreclosures Are Lower In March Of 2012 - 05/14/12 04:45 PM
On May 1, 2012, Esther Cho of dsnews.com reported that foreclosures were down about 19% to 69,000 in March of 2012, from 85,000 in March of 2011, and loans in foreclosure decreased close to 6% or 100,000, in March 2012 compared to the year before. All homes with a mortgage were lower, up-to 1.4 million homes, or 3.4% were in the national foreclosure inventory as of March 2012 compared to 1.5 million, or 3.5%, the same month a year ago, and same as 1.4 million, or 3.4%, in the prior month of February. There is no clear data of when, where, and how Mother’s Day originated. Some historians claim Mother’s Day originated during Greek spring festivals for the mother of deities, Rhea.
