social media: The Crisis of Credit Video Explanation - 02/24/09 06:07 PM
The mortgage mess is difficult to explain. There are lots of axes to grind. Many seeking to place blame. Many looking to absolve themselves of blame. No wonder it's hard to really understand what actually happened. The embed video here is the work of Jonathan Jarvis. Jonathan is a graduate student, not in finance, but in Media Design. He attends the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. It's most interesting to me that this video, the best explanation of market cause and effect that I've seen, is not the product of one of the many talking heads on CNN

social media: If One Blog is a Great Start, then Two Blogs Are . . . Introducing Branding Chaos. - 02/04/09 05:03 AM
I'm addicted. Some of you are there with me. Getting up early. Staying up late. Writing. Posting. Thinking about writing. Thinking about posting. Praying for comments! And I've done it again. I've started another blog; this time with my friend Chris Dickens. It's called Branding Chaos. Branding, as in what many of us participating in social media are trying to do. Create a personal Brand. Create power in our Brand. Drive business to us because of our Brand. Chaos, as in the scientific sense of the word. social media: Twitter. Commence Launch Sequence in 3 . . . 2 . . . 1 - 11/21/08 05:20 AM
"Huh?" Deer in the headlights look. "Why would I want to do that?!?" "That's the silliest thing I've ever heard." A slight tilt of the head followed by a slowly uttered and cautious ". . . right." If you've ever tried to sell someone on joining Twitter, you've probably encounter one or more of these reactions. What are you doing to get past them, close the deal, and get a friend or associate to sign up and begin launching your network? The adult population here in Bloomington is in the early adopter stages of social media. A few professionals are

social media: Are you busy? Yes, we’re busy! Thank you for asking! - 10/09/08 04:27 AM
When Realtors® and Lenders start asking me if I'm busy, I know what they really want to know. "Are you busy?" usually means "Am I the only one who is not busy? Please tell me so I know it's not just me." Tammy Walker, our Sales V.P., is getting this question a lot lately. We talked about how we should respond. We want to be truthful. No blowing smoke. Be genuine, not phony. Most importantly in the current environment, we want to be as positive and upbeat as we can be. Here's how Tammy is answering this question. Well, even though

social media: Hello active|rain! - 08/22/08 08:42 PM
I am the owner of John Bethell Title Company, Inc. in Bloomington, Indiana and this is my blog. I follow a variety of blogs on the Internet. It never occurred to me that I could have my own blog until several weeks ago. A friend of mine gave a talk about the phenomena of social media and how blogging was one component. I"m involved with different networking groups, but nothing on line until the last few weeks. Tammy Walker, our Sales V.P. kept telling me to check out active|rain. Having researched more, (special thanks to Jeff Bernheisel at Real Estate Marketing World: http://activerain.com/jbernheisel) I believe
