First Time Homebuyer $8,000 Tax Credit is still available for some Military Members Did you know that members of military and certain other federal employees serving outside the U.S. on official extended duty service for at least 90 days during the period beginning after Dec 31, 2008, and ending before May 1, 2010 are still eligible for the $8,000 First Time Hombebuyer Tax Credit and/or long-time homeowner tax credit up to $6,500. Longtime homeowners must have lived in the same principal residence for any five-consecutive year period during the eight-year period that ended on the date the replacement home is purchased. $1,800 Tax Credit for All Georgia Residents Buying a Home On May 11, 2009 Governor Sonny Perdue signed House Bill 261 into law allowing Georgia Residents to receive a $1,800 Tax Credit on homes purchased between June 1, 2009 and Nov 30, 2009. This tax credit is not limited to 1st Time Homebuyers; it is for All Georgia Residents purchasing a single family home or condo used as primary residence after June 1, 2009 and no later than Nov 30, 2009.
