Always a good idea to be reminded every once in a while about good security habits at home, in the auto, and while you are away on travel. Though you may not agree with every tip, believe you will find more helpful info here than not in this June 2011 Consumer Reports Article about Your Security.

With temps now dipping below freezing in the Kansas City area, thought it prudent to share a couple of very important winter-water-service-related items:
1. Don't assume because a property is vacant and water service has been cancelled, that water has been turned-off--NOT the norm for the KC Water Department. IMPORTANT INFO:
KCWSD NO LONGER TURNS OFF WATER WHEN MOVE OUT IS REQUESTED
2. Even if heat is on, make sure your property is protected from winter water freezes! IMPORTANT INFO:
