 In October 2011, there was a 200% increase in sales volume compared to the year before. With 9 homes sold during the month of October, this was also a 13% gain since September 2011. The average price has decreased by 13% year over year to 238K. This is also a 35% yearly price decrease.

Portland ME Housing Report for Nov 2011 - 11/14/11 03:00 PM
Through the month of October housing inventory in Portland Maine dropped. During the previous month there were 394 homes for sale, and 49 sold. In October only 377 homes were available, 58 sales. Sales are both up monthly, and are up 71% compared to the October 2010 levels. With a median price of 220K, Portland Maine markets have seen slow but steady appreciation of home values. It is an excellent time to purchase an investment property, or find a home in one of Portland’s growing neighborhoods such as the East End Munjoy Hill neighborhood.
