Blogging Seinfeld Style - 11/21/08 09:53 PM
How is it that the most inane stuff posted gets comments? Smiley faces adorn posts that have absolutely nothing to do with real estate or worse yet, nothing to do with anything.
What is the appeal?  You may remember the Seinfeld show. It was touted as the show that was about nothing.
It was funny and reruns will go on forever, I suppose.
There was no deep thought necessary. You tuned in and "out" and watched a show that might be about getting to a parking space first, Elaine's big head or Jerry's girlfriend with the big hands or getting a bowl of that special soup from the … (3 comments)

Did This Election Motivate You Enough to Take Action? - 11/21/08 05:38 PM
Here's the stupidest thing I ever heard. Republicans who refused to vote on election day--to protest--because they didn't like our candidate. Lazy and dumb is what I call that.
Because of that, we are and we will pay a price and so will they. Nothing could have been easier than going out and casting their ballot. But, they chose to act like little children who threw their little temper tantrum--for nothing.
Worse yet, are those who will complain about the status quo and do absolutely nothing to help change the way things are. The lazy citizens who did not cast their vote … (11 comments)

The only kind of water Obama (messiah) can walk on... - 11/21/08 03:24 PM
President-Elect, messiah,  is now having his spokespeople reduce our expectations! The man with all of 143 days in the Sentate who told his supporters he could do it all--is getting a taste of reality. It's amazing what you can learn when you finally get your face into problems, up-close and personal. And maybe, just maybe you're not as prone to being so harsh on the exiting President.
According to messiah, Bush didn't have the "answers", only failed policies. Neither does messiah have any answers.
All that huffing and puffing about those miracles he promsied ain't gonna happen, at least in the … (44 comments)

Your Government is ready willing and incapable of taking care of you... - 11/21/08 09:06 AM
Can you imagine the likes of Barney Frank (reminds me of a cartoon character) or Chris Dodd running an Automotive Manufacturer? They sure made a mess of the housing market and I wonder what they'll do if the gutless Auto execs bend to their will and beg them for money to keep their ships (or cars) afloat.
Unless you live in a cave, the stock market is telling us something...it doesn't like socialism. But, Nancy Pelosi and her comrades don't want the market to do what it does very well.
The FREE market is a survival of the fittest place. The reason … (3 comments)

Where you work is what you market: What kind of "employer" are you? - 11/20/08 07:04 AM

Where you work is what you market…
Most of us work as independent contractors. You are your own boss. We create the environment for our work. Some of us have teams and we are employing others in some fashion. The quote from Seth Godin’s Blog will make you think.
"Think about this for a second... Where you work is what you market. Work in a high stress place and you're likely to become a highly stressed person, and your interactions will display that. Work for a narcissist and you'll develop into someone who's good at shining a light on someone else, … (0 comments)

University of South Carolina's Student Housing Has Waiting List: Here's an Investment Idea for Parents - 11/19/08 06:46 PM
Here's the background for the investment idea:
USCB started classes in 2004. The Okatie campus is just past the gates of Sun City, off U.S. 278. There isn't much night life for students (yet), but as Oaktie development progresses, this is sure to change
For now there are about 600 students, half of them from out-of state, who live on campus at Palmetto Village, which opened in 2005 and is located on university grounds.
Nearly 85 percent of USCB students are from Beaufort County and for the first time there is a waiting list for living quarters which represents a great deal for … (0 comments)

Hilton Head Chamber of Commerce Briefing: Bright Spot for Local Real Estate - 11/19/08 06:53 AM

Bright Spot for Real Estate
The NEWS MEDIA love bad news: high foreclosure rates, declines in property values and homes taking longer to sell, but according to Dick Berger, president-elect of the South Carolina Realtors Association the region's amenities will help to turn the real estate tide.
Berger Said: "Fortunately, what we sell is a quality of life."  "The ocean is still there; we still have pristine beaches. I'd like to think that there's a foursome on the first tee of every golf course in our area, and that's what draws people to Hilton Head and the entire Lowcountry area and … (1 comments)

Get Ready For Obama Appointment of Leftist Judges to The Supreme Court - 11/15/08 06:37 PM
*(Definition: Amicus Briefs: Latin term meaning "friend of the court".  The name for a brief filed with the court by someone who is not a party to the case.)
Supreme Court: Their job is to protect us from laws which are unconstitutional--What happens when a judge or two gets appointed who thinks more of foreign law then the supreme law of our land.
This can, and probably will happen in the Obama administration.
Yale Law School dean Harold Hongju Koh has been identified as a potential Obama pick for the Supreme court.
Koh has filed *amicus briefs--which try to show how … (14 comments)

Heartbreak Hill or Molehill : What marathon training teaches about winning at real estate (Part 3) - 11/14/08 01:11 PM
The Boston Marathon's The infamous Heartbreak Hill: "Heartbreak Hill is an ascent over 0.4 mile (600 m) of the Boston Marathon course, between the 20 and 21 mile marks, in the vicinity of Boston College.
It is the last of four "Newton hills", which begin at the 16 mile mark. It is positioned at a point on a marathon course where muscle glycogen stores are likely to be depleted-a phenomenon referred to by marathoners as 'hitting the wall.'" (wikipedia)
I heard about hitting the all over and over again--And "heartbreak hill" exists.  But, I gotta tell ya, there was no Heartbreak Hill for me.

"Teach us to number each of our days ... - 11/13/08 07:56 AM
...so that we may grow in wisdom." (Psalm 90:12)

Yesterday, I found out about a successful Realtor here who died suddenly. He was OK 4 weeks ago!-- and now he is gone. This morning I read that the husband of a friend died--he was struggling with an illness, but seemed to be making progress.
I know that many of us experience this everyday, Death is an everyday participant in our lives.
This final life event gives me cause to pause and reflect on how I live my life and reevaluate how I spend it.
For me, I am on the back … (5 comments)

Are you causing the earth to quake? - 11/13/08 07:17 AM
As a volunteer prison chaplain, I met many a young man who was a prisoner in prison. That is, they were bound by all of the attitudes and behaviors that got them into prison in the first place--and they we're without a spiritual anchor.
All of the talking at them in the world about their sinful lifestyle and what got them into prison fell on deaf ears. Sometimes, pride sits on our shoulder and will let us believe we're hot stuff in The Kingdom; and somehow the words that come out of our mouths and our own worldly wisdom will gather lost ones … (6 comments)

What training for a marathon can teach you about the real estate business: (part2)You need a plan - 11/12/08 08:44 AM
To succeed at running a marathon takes a plan, the same is true for the real estate business--without a plan you're planning to fail.
I still have the training plan that got me my personal best in the Boston Marathon. It contains each days workout for a 9 month training cycle. It contains speed goals, weight goals, miles, and types of runs. It also includes a log of the actual versus planned training that I did.
To win, there is nothing more important than having goals written--taking the time to put on paper the step-by-step tasks that will get us to where we want to … (3 comments)

What marathon training teaches about winning at real estate (Part1) - 11/11/08 09:43 AM
Sunday, I went for not one run, but TWO! I am psyched! You see it's been quite awhile since I've been motivated (and without injury) to do a "2-a-day". 30 pounds ago, I was in the best shape of my life. It was also 30 years ago and I have completed 15 marathons and many other races of shorter distances. I loved running, which I took up because I quit smoking and began to EAT.
The last race I ran was in 2002, a 10 miler in Charlottesville, VA. Since then, it's been downhill-not so much because of lack of desire, but rather … (4 comments)

I just want to say Happy Birthday and thanks all my fellow Marines for their service to our country. Thank you to those who are in harms way for their courage and dedication and sacrifice and also thank you to the loved ones who are back home. Thank you to those of you who have sons and daughters serving in the MARINE CORPS, or any other branch of the military.

Can we blame The Tanking of the Stock Market on Obama? - 11/06/08 09:27 PM
I would love to say yes. However, I can't wholeheartedly put all the blame on the election result. I do believe that smaller investors are throwing in the towel--just because of the fear that the market will go lower still. And, I do believe investors are also rethinking whether or not they want to be in the stock market at all, because of the OBAMA's confiscatory tax scheme.
But what were the market forces which moved this market down in the past couple of sessions?
(1) BAD NEWS and (2) poor sales and or earnings projections
On November 5th Cisco Systems projected sales and earnings are … (25 comments)

The DOG Lobby: One Campaign Promise Obama will Keep, for Sure - 11/06/08 06:46 AM
As President-Elect Obama will now have to make good on all his campaign promises, including this one -- to get his daughters a dog.
Obama repeated this promise in his acceptance speech, "you have earned the new puppy that's coming with us to the White House," He said/
Well he's getting a little help with his selection process from the American Kennel Association
About 42,000 Americans went to the "dog poll" (sponsored by AKA in August) to vote on what dog the Obama's should get.
They were able to cast their vote for the right breed of dog for the … (0 comments)

Messiah's Victory Celebratioin - 11/05/08 05:54 PM
It's interesting to note that the O family was wearing BLACK and RED...
Now what happened to the red, white and blue? Here, let’s try this on for size: "The red-and-black (flag) is the symbol of the anarcho-syndicalist and anarcho-communist movements. Black is the traditional color of anarchism, and red is the traditional color of socialism. The red-and-black flag combines the two colors in equal parts, with a simple diagonal split. Typically, the red section is placed on the top-left corner, with the black on the bottom-right corner of the flag. This symbolizes the co-existence of anarchist and socialist ideals within … (41 comments)

Will our Silence be deafening: Do we let let those who hold immoral views that are anti-family and anti-child go unchallenged? - 11/05/08 08:38 AM

The Toughest Question in The World to Answer - 11/04/08 05:43 AM

What John Glenn Said, Should Make you Think - 11/03/08 07:27 PM
I had this emailed to me today, the source is unknown. It's worth the read.  John Glenn (DEMOCRAT) said this ----- It should make us all think a little: There were 39 combat related killings in Iraq in January.  In the fair city of Detroit there were 35 murders in the month of January.  That's just one American city, about as deadly as the entire war-torn country of Iraq When some claim that President Bush shouldn't have started this war, tell them the following:     FDR (DEMOCRAT) led us into World War II.   Germany never attacked us; Japan did.  From 1941-1945, 450,000 lives … (3 comments)

Vote Your Conscience--but are you sure it's telling you the truth? - 11/03/08 06:06 AM

We have an election which will take place shortly. I am opposed to any candidate who supports abortion. If a Muslim who was pro-life could be running against a so called Christian who was pro-choice, the Muslim would get my vote.
How could anyone support a candidate who endorses the killing of babies.
It is true, you must vote your conscience. Our human nature is still prone to self-deception and we can buy into lies. We can delude ourselves and say that there are more important issues than this one. To me, it is the issue which defines the character … (2 comments)
