Point of Sale Tax Assessment is Bad for SC Real Estate and The Economy

Home buyers need to be clear on the Point of Sale Tax Law. I am hopeful that it will get repealed and soon.

Here's what our backward-thinking lawmakers put on us:

If you purchase a home in South Carolina, your taxes will be assess based on the SALE price (the market value), while comparable occupied homes will be assessed (not the market value) as they have been--let me explain:

Let's say you purchase a property for $300,000, you will pay property taxes on the sale price $300,000. Your neighbors, properties identical to yours will pay taxes on the assessed value--which will, more than likely be much lower then the taxes on the newly purchased home.

What if the current assessment for home in the neighborhood are at $150,000 or $200,000--they pay much less in taxes. Doesn't seem fair. And it isn't.

Secondly, the current law limits assessment increases to 15% every 5 years. Again, my neighbor will be paying lower taxes on a comparable property.

What if I am in the market to buy a home. If I have a choice between paying higher taxes or lower taxes on comparable homes, I might choose the comparable home with the lower taxes.

Things are hard enough for the housing market. t We want industry--lucky we're getting Boeing--but tax laws like this one discourage businesses from coming here.

Be encouraged, the South Carolina Realtors Association is lobbying hard to get this law repealed.

Consumer-Friendly Closing Statments Mandated

Heads Up, Bluffton South Carolina Home Buyers

The Department of Housing and Urban Development will require that closing costs be spelled out on a new, consumer-friendly version of the good-faith estimate form. Technically, lenders are to furnish borrowers this information within three days of applying for a mortgage.

A new HUD-1 form will be in force, effective January 1, 2010. The new forms permit borrowers to compare good faith estimates with the actual closing fees.

There are three categories of fees--

Fees that cannot increase from the good-faith--these include:

Lender mortgage origination
Underwriting charges
Lender points
Local transfer taxes

Fees that can increase as much as 10 percent from the good-faith estimates, include:

Appraisals
Title insurance
Recording fees from local governments.

Fees that can increase include

Escrowed Initial deposits
Daily interest charges on the loan
Home owners insurance

Now is a good time to purchase a home in Bluffton, Sun City or Hilton Head.

What Tax Credits Will Mean To Bluffton-Hilton Head SC Home Buyers

Tax Cuts and Tax Credits are good things! Especially for Local real estate market in the Bluffton, SC and Hillton Head Island area.

The House of representatives did a good thing--extending the first-time home buyer credit and, in addition extending tax credit of $6500 to move-up buyers. The President signed the bill today.

To Qualify

Applicants must have a purchase agreement in force by April 30th, 2010 and Close by June 30th 2010
Annual Incomes must be below $125000 for individuals an $15000 for those how file their taxes jointly
The Home must be a PRIMARY residence--vacation homes and investment properties are excluded
Applicants may purchase homes with values up to $800,000

How advantageous is this for Hilton Head, Island Real Estate?

Well, this program is better than nothing. But, it would have been good for our law makers to consider areas of the country--like Hilton Head--with its larger inventories of vacation homes and investment properties--

While home sales will pick up nationally, sales of vacation homes remain depressed. That said, now is a great time to buy--that's what Warren Buffet does.

Home builders should be jumping for joy. Newer Planned unit developments have been pretty quiet. This should be a shot in the arm for them and good medicine for the Bluffton economy.

Some Life & Business Lessons from The Marine Corps Marathon

I recently drove from Bluffton, SC to Washington DC to compete as a part of a team of 500 participating in the Marine Corps Marathon. Our purpose was to raise money for the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund.

The funds are used to help seriously injured Marines, Sailors and Soldiers rehab and get them back to living life to the full. The fund also provides financial assistance to their families.

I am happy to report our Injured Marine Semper Fi team raised over $350000!

October 25th, 2009 was an ideal Marathon Sunday, with temperatures ranging from 45 to 62 degrees. Things kicked off with a 10K race, followed by competitors with physical challenges. Then, at 0800, the gun was fired for the throng of 30,000 to begin their trek to the finish.

You'd think that our team of 500 would blend in to the other 29,500 runners, But, I saw lots of red "Semper Fi" shirts, got many pats on the back, as well as encouragement from my teammates, as they passed me. (Ha!)

Reflecting on this day, there are things I learned that I'd like to share--and believe these lessons can be applied to business and life:

1. The Marines employ systems and discipline. I've participated in 16 other marathons and no organization does a better job of organizing than the US Marines. Hosting 37,500 people takes some planning. The Marines are masters at planning and logistic. They had a system for everything--from handing us cups of water to giving us our medals--all by the numbers, the same way, over and over again. The lesson? To make business and life run smoothly, create or adopt systems for success, and have the discipline to follow them.

2. We are all in a race. It's called life. Joy. Happiness. Encouragement. These can be found along our route. And rest assured, there are difficulties. Pain. Wanting to quit. Wondering if you'll finish. And somehow, you do.The Lesson? God is our help and hope, if you want Him to be.

3. We are blessed if we have a support team. My family-- wife, daughter, son and their spouses all showed up at mile 18 with Tee Shirts that exclaimed "The March Team." I had to straighten up. No way was I going to be walking. My son in law, along with my son, who was carrying my granddaughter on his shoulder, ran along side for a moment or two. It was incredibly uplifting. It gave me a shot of much needed adrenaline. The Lesson? Support teams energize you. They encourage you. They motivate you to, to finish strong.

4. Don't run your race just for yourself. Many runners were running--not for themselves, but in memory of a loved one who lost their life in service to our country. The lesson? When you have a "big why" for running your race, "the big why" matters more than how fast you can complete your course.

5. We live in a great country and most Americans Love it! Patriotism showed itself in red, white and blue on Marathon Day--it was great to see. This is the the land of the free and home of the brave. The lesson? Rally round the flag at every opportunity with like-minded folks. It will make you feel good about yourself and your fellow Americans.

6. Stuff happens. I planned a finish time which my training told me was in the realm of possibility, But-- I was a whole hour late! A foot problem slowed my pace. The lesson? Prepare as best you can before your race. Think about what could go wrong (what if it rains? snows? you get injured?) When stuff happens, don't panic. Make the necessary adjustments and move on.

7. Never, ever even THINK about quitting. There were signs along the route that read: "Pain is temporary, defeat is forever."

Never quit in training. The time to prepare for NOT QUITTING is in training. If your training schedule calls for 20 mile run, commit to doing the 20--not 19.5, 18 or anything less than what your plan calls for--even if you have to crawl to complete the mission. Why? Because, if you quit in practice you teach your mind and body to quit. You set yourself up to be a quitter on race day. So, deal with discomfort, aches and pains. Theses will go away when you finish!The lesson? Victory in every practice will insure victory in the battle.

8. Have fun. You may know what it takes to train for a marathon. 13 mile, 18, 20 mile, 25 mile runs, training every day, for many weeks--For some, this sounds like boring stuff, not fun. For me, I enjoyed most of it. I enjoyed the benefits of shedding the extra pounds and lower blood pressure. I love training outdoors and feeling good. To me, training was play time. And once a week, I got a day off, too. The lesson? Life is short. Find out what gives you joy in your work and your life. Don't be so serious--figure out how to have some fun everyday. And, by all means, take a day off.

9. It helps if you know where you are, how far you have to go, where and when you'll finish. Prior to the race, The Marines provided us an interactive map online. I referred to that map, many times prior to race day--visualizing my race and seeing the victory. Some people go through life without a map. They don't know where they're going. Some may have a map tucked away, but never refer to it. The lesson? Make sure you have a map for the course you're running. Know where you're suppose to be and when. Refer to it frequently, check your compass and visualize the victory.

10. Be grateful. Getting a medal is awesome. At the finish, each of us received the Symbol of the Marine Corps, an Eagle, Globe and Anchor medal, which was suspended on a broad blue ribbon. A Marine Corps officer hung my medal around my neck. I felt honored. I thanked him for his service. And, I felt like I should be hanging my medal around his neck!

I am thankful for all of the dedicated young men and women who served us on marathon day and who serve us everday. The Lesson? Don't take freedom for granted, and next time you see someone in uniform, don't be shy--thank them for their service.

In April of this year, I asked for prayer for Josh who had a rare cancer and was affecting his arm. The reports we were getting were not good at all. The only solution, after many months of treatment was to amputate his arm, which was done 5 weeks ago, at the shoulder.

I got this email from Josh last night --

"Thank you so much for your prayers and continued concern. I wanted to let you know that i have been doing well and am on my way to beating this cancer."

Yesterday he went out for a bike ride!

My niece sent us some pictures and here's one with of Josh with his friend,

We give God all of the Glory and thank you to all who prayed.

Obama Set to Brainwash Our Children With the Help of Our Teachers

Barak Hussein Obama is planning a mass brainwashing of children in their classrooms from Pre-K through the Sixth grade next Tuesday, September 8, 2009.

If this doesn't get your attention, I don't know what will. You will not believe his agenda and if you have kids or grand kids you need to pass this info on. Voice your objection to this assault on how you want your kids to be served. Haven't you all had enough?

There is no reason that any child should be forced to participate in this activity.

I do not know what Obama will say--it is supposed to be a speech about succeeding in school. We'll see. I don't like the fact that parents are not being asked to give their permission.

Obama is infringing on turf where he doesn't belong.

Before the Speech

•Teachers can build background knowledge about the President of the United States and his speech by reading books about presidents and Barack Obama.

•Teachers could motivate students by asking the following questions:

Who is the President of the United States?

What do you think it takes to be president?

To whom do you think the president is going to be speaking?

Why do you think he wants to speak to you?

What do you think he will say to you?

•Teachers can ask students to imagine that they are delivering a speech to all of the students in the United States.

If you were the president, what would you tell students?

What can students do to help in our schools?

•Teachers can chart ideas about what students would say.

Why is it important that we listen to the president and other elected officials, like the mayor, senators, members of congress, or the governor? Why is what they say important?

During the Speech

As the president speaks, teachers can ask students to write down key ideas or phrases that are important or personally meaningful. Students could use a note‐taking graphic organizer such as a “cluster web;” or, students could record their thoughts on sticky notes. Younger children could draw pictures and write as appropriate. As students listen to the speech, they could think about the following:

What is the president trying to tell me?

What is the president asking me to do?

What new ideas and actions is the president challenging me to think about?

• Students could record important parts of the speech where the president is asking them to do something. Students might think about the following:

What specific job is he asking me to do?

Is he asking anything of anyone else?

Teachers? Principals? Parents? The American people?

•Students could record questions they have while he is speaking and then discuss them after the speech. Younger children may need to dictate their questions.

After the Speech

•Teachers could ask students to share the ideas they recorded, exchange sticky notes, or place notes on a butcher‐paper poster in the classroom to discuss main ideas from the speech, such as citizenship, personal responsibility, and civic duty.

•Students could discuss their responses to the following questions:

What do you think the president wants us to do?

Does the speech make you want to do anything?

Are we able to do what President Obama is asking of us?

What would you like to tell the president?

Extension of the Speech

•Teachers could extend learning by having students:

•Create posters of their goals. Posters could be formatted in quadrants, puzzle pieces, or trails marked with the following labels: personal, academic, community, and country. Each area could be labeled with three steps for achieving goals in that area. It might make sense to focus first on personal and academic goals so that community and country goals can be more readily created.

•Write letters to themselves about how they can achieve their short‐term and long‐term education goals. Teachers would collect and redistribute these letters at an appropriate later date to enable students to monitor their progress.

•Write goals on colored index cards or precut designs to post around the classroom.

•Interview one another and share goals with the class to create a supportive community.

•Participate in school‐wide incentive programs or contests for those students who achieve their goals.

•Write about their goals in a variety of genres, such as poems, songs, and personal essays.

•Create artistic projects based on the themes of their goals.

•Graph individual progress toward goals.

Education was used by Hitler to brainwash a generation to serve his diabolical ideals. Obama's "Monica" A Foreign Policy & National Defense Wrecker

When was the last time you heard Obama speak about national security? Afghanistan? Terrorists? (Oops, not allowed to say that.) I know, he's on vacation. Ted died and Obama is stressed.

Just recently, The NATO Headquarters in Kabul was bombed--My son-in-law was there, and he watched as they brought in the wounded for treatment. Our prayers go out to those who lost their lives.

The SECURITY at the embassy is POOR. This was also reported by the liberal press. This is lack of concern for security is symptomatic of this administrations lack of concern for national and international security.

Here's a little flashback:

In 1983 the Marine barracks in Beirut Lebanon was leveled and 299 Marines lost their lives, as well as many others. Security was lax.

Perhaps this President doesn’t recall the event. In 1983, he was a student at Columbia. He wrote a news article that year called "Breaking the War Mentality"

Here is some of it--

"Most students at Columbia do not have firsthand knowledge of war. Military violence has been a vicarious experience, channeled into our minds through television, film, and print.

The more sensitive among us struggle to extrapolate experiences of war from our everyday experience, discussing the latest mortality statistics from Guatemala, sensitizing ourselves to our parents’ wartime memories, or incorporating into our framework of reality as depicted by a Mailer[^] or a Coppola. But the taste of war — the sounds and chill, the dead bodies — are remote and far removed. We know that wars have occurred, will occur, are occurring, but bringing such experience down into our hearts, and taking continual, tangible steps to prevent war, becomes a difficult task.

Two groups on campus, Arms Race Alternatives (ARA) and Students Against Militarism (SAM) work within these mental limits to foster awareness and practical action necessary to counter the growing threat of war. Though the emphasis of the two groups differ, they share an aversion to current government policy. These groups, visualizing the possibilities of destruction and grasping the tendencies of distorted national priorities, are throwing their weight into shifting America off the dead-end track."

What were the policies of the Administrations in 1983?

"Among the notable features of the Reagan 1983 budget, the most egregious is the vast increase in defense spending. In terms of spending authorization (the figure I will use throughout this paper), there is a 20% increase, from $214 billion in 1982 to $258 billion in 1983"

1983 also marked troubling times, and huge deficits. But, Reagan believed in a strong defense to preserve our freedom.

Now, you can see--that OBAMA hasn't changed his thinking much, since 1983. I love his choice of words in his article particularly the phrase “Military Violence.” I wonder how he viewed Soldiers, Sailors and Marines who served their country—were they all like soldiers of fortune, or a band of mercenaries?

I submit to you that Obama is anti-military and anti-national defense. Words will not bring down an Iranian missile. Obama reminds me of the peaceniks during the Vietnam War. He is a “Jane Fonda” draped in an American Flag.

How do you prevent War, Mr. Obama? Obama has demonstrated that he thinks it is far better to smooth talk and cozy-up to the demands of our adversaries (his style of diplomacy) who are arming-up daily (Russia, Iran and the North Koreans)

OBAMA GOES BACK ON HIS WORD to our Allies

If you don't know, Obama is putting the world at risk and going BACK on his word. We promised a missile shield to Poland and the Czech Republic. Hillary Clinton reiterated this promise. We are NOT going to provide 10 Missile interceptors in Poland, nor the radar in the Czech Republic.

Iran may have the capability to deliver nukes via rockets, which they have successfully tested.

The Healthcare issue is OBAMA's Monica Lewinski!

As Clinton was distracted by Monica, Obama is distracted by Obamacare. What is Obama thinking?

He is only thinking about one thing: He is preoccupied with his BIMBO-- OBAMACARE.

Obamacare will take MONEY. Where will it come from? You have to cut programs. Hmmm, how about Defense?

Obamacare is a harlot. And our President is more interested in political agendas and getting his own way.

He is less interested in taking strong stands. He is more interested in flying around to get applause for the lies he spouts. He is more interested in seeing that we fall into lockstep with countries around the world, so that we can be liked and become more like them.

His foreign policy is a disaster. He believes in a wishy-washy diplomacy over a strong national defense and he doesn't care a whit about keeping his word. Our enemies are laughing at us.

And this guy is smart? Give me that dumb guy BUSH.

HealthCare Bill an Undercover Attempt to Bury Our Constitutional Rights

I want to thank a local Sun City resident Don Maresca, who took the time to write a letter to the editor which appeared in yesterday's Bluffton Today. He encouraged us to READ THE BILL. He pointed out sections that are worth looking into, to understand what's really going on. I've posted the pages below.

We hear a lot of opinions from pundits and proponents on both sides. Windbags who deal in opinions and not facts, attempt to sway the public into accepting a bill, which on the surface, sounds good--namely, it is supposed to take care of those who have no medical coverage. (The minority)

When you dig into the bill, you'll begin to see that it takes away our freedom to make our own choices, and places decision-making into the hands of bureaucrats-- In short, it takes away fundamental liberties.

This bill is not a healtcare plan. It is a plan to save money and to intrude on our lives. This is a "Robin Hood Bill". It takes away from those who have health insurance (The majority) and redistributes taxpayer dollars in ways too complicated for so many of us to clearly understand--to make sure the minority is covered. It holds the promise to dilute the quality of healthcare and add trillions to the deficit.

Most Americans are becoming more aware of all of this. And, they are making their opposition known at town hall meetings. (The press paints them as rebels--right wing plants whose job is to disrupt these meetings--this is total press distortion.) The "quiet townhall meetings don't get covered,

The truth is that our lawmakers have demonstrated that they have a tough time answering questions about the bill--maybe--because--they--haven't-- read-- it! They look and sound like fools--this goes for both sides, Republican and Democrat. Our lawmakers operate on the principle that they know what's best for us. Even if you and I object--it doesn't seem to matter.

P.S. Ever spend hours in an emergency room and watch the folks who don't have insurance , get attention for their runny nose?

We are not a nation of cruel, heartless people. Our healthcare system is not filled with greedy doctors and uncaring nurses. We care about people. And, people will ultimate get what they need from a nation which is unrivaled in it's generosity AROUND THE WORLD!

The bill is not easy to understand because it is written in legal, governmental gobbledygook--but, scan the pages--you'll begin to see that this bill is an assault on your rights and your freedom.

If you do read the bill, you'll also understand why one John Conyers made his statement about needing a lawyer to interpret it. You will also understand why it pains our law makers to read this crap.

(How is the average American suppose to understand this stuff, if you can't Mr. Conyers?)

Happy fourth of July. We celebrate independence day. We are thankful for our freedom.

But FREEDOM is not free. I hope you'll take a moment to read this entire post--

I am running as a part of a community team in the Marine Corps Marathon

in October, 2009, to raise money for the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund.

You can learn about the work of this fund by going to my web page.

But, before you do, there are some incredible stories about injured Marines and Sailors who haven't allowed their injuries to stop them from living life to the full. The Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund helps them accomplish that.

Corey Petersen is one of those individuals who hasn't let her injury stop her...

Corey has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise and Sports Science with minors in Coaching, Nutrition, and Dietetics with Iowa State University.

She was a runner for 12 years where she ran multiple distances and ran the Marine Corps Marathon in 2004.

Although She was injured in 2007 causing her to become a paraplegic, this has not stopped her from remaining active.

She is a Core Member of Team Semper Fi and participated in the Marine Corps Marathon 10K using a

hand-crank bicycle and plans to continue in many races to come.

What Do You Call Jesus?

This week another leader fell. He was looked upon as a "family-values" proponent. He looked good, smelled good, and didn't appear to have any dirt behind his ears. Unfortunately, he sinned greatly against The Lord, his wife and his children. I am talking about Govenor Mark Sanford. So many of us can live with one foot in the kingdom and the other in hell. No man or woman can serve two masters.

Many are being raised up who are calling Christians to account. The choice is to do business with The Lord as usual, or to ask ourselves the hard questions.

This is the first hard question.

What do you call Christ?

If I had you in front of me this is what I would tell you:

1-Your interests are Self-interest above all

You don't care a wit about your people or the American Consumer who bought your products
You failed to lead and get your people behind you and work together with your team to find creative solutions
You took the easy way out
You failed to let the free market system work--and because of your mismanagement, you deserve to fail. If you worked for me, I'd fire you. In fact, the American Public will do just that; they will vote with their feet; won't buy your products. Come 2010, Mr. Obama, they will dismiss your partners in crime.

2- GM & Chrysler, You failed to negotiate with Labor

Instead, for the last 30 years or more, you bowed to the demands of greedy labor, giving them everything they wanted, driving labor costs through the roof; and now you can't deliver on your promises; but you'll give away TAX PAYER money to finance their pensions.

Obama, you did everything in your power to insure that the UAW got what it wanted while you ignored the priorities of Chrysler bondholders--I hope the Courts go against you and stop this deal.

3-You put politics above principles and the law

You (Obama) ignore the rule of Law, and push through your will, not the will of the people

You are comfortable, ignoring the Constitution powers that are unconstitutional (and you GM, Chrysler are pawns who have no integrity)

4-You destroy the businesses and impact the lives of those who made you successful in the past and throw your dealers under the bus;

You put them out of business;you could have taken all of that money you want to waste and given it to them, to get them through? That would have been a better, less costly proposition--than the billions you are willing to throw away on PORK

You (OBAMA) put parts suppliers out of business and claim you're saving 150000 jobs. You (GM, Chrysler) tell us your companies are going to turn a new leaf and make products that The President wants you to make; you (Obama) give away $4500 to any consumer who wants to trade in a "gas guzzler" for a new car--so, you've developed your own "cash-back program with out money! Mr, Obama, you ARE in the Car business Mr. Obama

In short, you're all liars.

5- You pander to environmentalist weenies (votes for you Mr. Obama,) They hate the thought that global warming, like evolution are theories--NOT proven; these whackos rule, keeping us under the thumbs of our Arab "Friends"; driving up the cost fo refining Oil because of all of their regulations and taxes;

Mr. Obama, You believe in windmills--there in your mind.

What a sad bunch you all are. Henry Ford is turning in his grave.

The Transition from Capitalism to Communism: Is it Happening?

Obama is now insisting on pushing through his socialist agenda (Universal Health Care, Injecting money through the porkulous bill at a faster rate--strings attached for states who accept these monies which would in essence give Government more say in the affairs of the states.)

One of the features of communism is the brainwashing of the populous, making them believe a lie. What Obama is pushing hasn't worked so far. He puts forth numbers for job creation which are not measureable; he claims to be saving jobs--also not measureable--these are all just statistical smoke screens put up by his economic cronies.

Just think about how much you see this mans face in your face. He is ALWAYS making speeches (never without teleprompters) All he does is well scripted. He is pushing his lies.

Obama and crew are ruining this country. Obama is also going to ruin the real estate business. (all the borrowing willl have to be paid back, expect Higher interest rates; higher mortgage interest, will kill housing market)

Obama Continues His Sell Out

Obama made his speeches to the Muslim world and to sum it up, he thinks more about what theses folks think than what the majority of Americans think.

What do at least Half of Americans voters think? I challenge you to ask. They think this country is a great country; a country that is strong, that stands for right principles, that defends weaker nations, oppressed countries, attacked countries (Kuwait, Bosnia,) A country that feeds those who have no food (Somalia) We have defended Muslim Countries, fed them, protected them.

WE HAVE NO REASON TO APOLOGIZE FOR ANYTHING!

The majority of Americans think that we are a nation whose declaration of independence and constitution drew wisdom and principles from the large reserve contained in Judeo-Christian scriptures--not the Koran.

The majority of Americans love and appreciate their military--they believe that Generals know more than any politician in washington. They know that the military is interested in only one thing: WINNING; winning battles, wars and the hearts and minds of people who are oppressed by TERRORISTS!

Obama is a man who is selling out Israel. He is spitting in their faces; preaching to them and siding with people who want to see Israel wiped off the map.

He is weak. He allows the proliferation of nuclear weapons, and not doing a thing to discourage bullies.

More, and more, there are those who voted for Obama that see him as a threat to all that at least one half of the voting public holds dear: our freedom and our standing in the world as a power to be reckoned with.

The IMSFF’s Mission

The Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund provides financial assistance to:

* Marines injured in combat and in training

* To other service members injured while in direct support of Marine units

* To their families to help defray the expenses incurred during hospitalization, rehabilitation, and recovery.

* Cover costs associated with the purchase of specialized equipment, adapted vehicles and home modifications.

The goal is to alleviate the financial burden placed on the family so that their focus can be on their loved one’s recovery. Thanks for supporting the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund!

Raising funds is accomplished through athletic events such as the Marine Corps Marathon.(MCM)

Members of TEAM SEMPER FI will be competing in the MCM. The idea for Team Semper Fi was inspired by those wounded Marines and Sailors who refused to let their physical challenges prevent them from competing in athletic events, and whose drive and determination is inspirational to us all.

Community team members also compete and agree to raise support. In the 2008, MCM 402 athletes running for the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund Team raised over $275,000.

This year I will participate as a community team member and will run the 2009 Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) on 25 October, along with many other athletes.

Scare Flu Politics

The only true swine are those who engage in the politics of fear. This SCARE FLU can be applied from the time we got scared into giving away tax payer money to banks and auto companies (AKA Porkulous FLU) to the now 1 Billion Obama is earmarking for vaccine, etc I am sure this money will find its way into more important endeavors like flying an empty Air Force One around New York for a photo op. Of course, the president didn't know about it. Pork-feathers. There is no way he could not have known. He has to know which aircraft he'd need to jump on in the event of an attack --of course, there are no more terrorist, and of course, we are to treat those who are a "problem" as officers and gentleman--ask polite questions and HOPEFULLY get an answer, without harming the little darlings.

Dear Friends

We are asking for prayer for Josh who has a rare form of cancer.

Josh graduated from College two years ago and was doing well.

He had a tumor on his arm, which was misdiagnosed, got some bad

medical advice and has lost 40 pounds. He has taken a 3 month

leave of absence from work ( his mother said we don’t know how

long we will have him with us.)

Miracles still happen. As you pray believe God for healing.

How much time does God need to perform a miracle?

Morality according to one liberal church and where this country is headed

The job of the church is to hand out condoms. This is what one denomination considers "moral" responsibility! You can check out the full story here.

Many liberals believe that the bible is a book of myths and fables. That Jesus didn't lead a sinless life, nor is there a Satan or evil spirits. I remember having a "discussion" with a seminary student who was about to be ordained. She was taught--in Seminary--that there are many "myths" in the bible. This is what we are faced with--the sheep are at risk--the wolves are leading them.

Liberal leaders lead the sheep astray because they are ashamed of the gospel. It is not palatable enough. It is too coarse. It is easier to hand out a condom then to preach against immorality.

The Barna organization finished a new study on what separates liberals and conservatives. The results are evidence that there is a wide divide in the beliefs held by conservatives and liberals. It is worth the read.

There are millions of people living a lie. These same people are looking for answers. There eternal destiny is up for grabs. People need to hear the truth. We need to get busy. Time grows short.

Drew Johnson, the president of the Tennessee Center for Policy Research, decided to drive by Gore's mansion in Nashville at 8:48 p.m. and records that floodlights were on illuminating the drive way of his 9000 square foot mansion. Just imagine your 14 year old sitting in front of the TV when this immoral "cartoon"-- which looks innocent enough-- is allowed into your home courtesy of FOX TV and PEPSI.

Please take some action. You don't need to watch the whole video. The first few seconds was enough for me!

Kids have it tough enough these days don't they? All you need to do today is sign the petitions. File the complaint with the FCC. Do these, at least. Also make a contribution to AFA, if the Lord leads you to do so.

On March 8, Fox network aired Family Guy, a perverted and sickening program, into the homes of millions of Americans. This episode was rated TV-14 DLSV by FOX, meaning that in the network's opinion it was appropriate for 14-year olds. It aired during prime-time.

The content of this program was so explicit that I can't even begin to describe it here.

Even more offensive is Fox's view of Christianity. At a "straight" meeting, the speaker talks to gays about Jesus and tells them, "He [Jesus] hates many people, but none more than homosexuals." Incidentally, Pepsico helped sponsor this program (BoycottPepsico.com.

You really cannot get the full effect of the show's portrayal of Christianity without watching the video or reading our review. You will hear the tone and sarcasm very clearly.

The FCC has a duty to enforce the law and fine Fox for this sickening violation of broadcast decency standards. In addition, your local FOX network affiliate did not have to air this episode. Obviously, they do not care about your local community standards.

Take Action!

File an official complaint with the FCC against the Fox network and your local FOX affiliate station. It will only take a couple of minutes. Do it for your children and grandchildren.

Bluffton, South Carolina has it's share of foreclosures but is help on the way?

Unemployment in South Carolina hovers at 11%. Small Businesses struggle and many have closed their doors. Foreclosures or the danger of it affects home owners from all economic strata. Fortunately there are some thoughtful, forward thinking banks that want to help the situation.

First Federal Bank has actually put a moratorium on foreclosures until May 2009. So, all lenders are not without mercy.

First Federal is also stepping up to the plate and offered over 100 homeowners the opportunity to discuss their situation with counselors from the Home ownership Resource Center, a division of Charleston Family Services.

Unemployment, medical bills and bad stuff that happens to people can torpedo a homeowners best intentions to keep current with their mortgage payments. A round of applause for First Federal Bank, and the leadership of its President, A. Thomas Hood is in order.

This past weekend, Counselors discussed ways they could help homeowners negotiate with mortgage lenders and banks to get back on about 100 homers who are facing foreclosure got the opportunity to speak with counselors who were able to give them steps they could take to negotiate with their lender and banks and get back on a path which will lead to some relief fo their financial problems.

Our pace of foreclosures has been about 100 per month (Beaufort County). So, I hope that there will be more of these events because this is a problem that will continue here for some time.

For many months, I have been passively involved and interested in the Voice of the Martyrs ministry. What is happening to Christians around the world has been going on for many years. The U.S. government under any administration for the last 40 or more years has failed to protest this injustice around the world.

We must stand for our brothers and sisters in Christ. Therefore, I am going to encourage you to become involved there are several ways you can do that. Please go to their website. PLEASE!

Here is one of the latest bulletins they've posted. This, compared to other reports is a minor affront, as you learn more you will see that. It is easy to get involved and get others involved as well.

Authorities in Uzbekistan are cracking down on Christians. Raids, detentions and other forms of government harassment have been on the rise in the last few days, according to Mission Network News.

Three Christians have each been sentenced to 15 days in prison in the Andijan region of eastern Uzbekistan after police raided a home.

In a separate case, a Baptist in Tashkent was given a 10-day prison sentence after officials raided a prayer meeting in a registered church. Sergey Rakhuba, with Russian Ministries, says government officials are using anti-terrorist laws to arrest believers. "[The believers] were doing what their constitution allows," he said. "They were praying and reading the Bible. But government officials arrested them... implying that they were trying to [create an uprising] against their country." The increased pressure on Christians has not stopped the gospel. "The more pressure they create, the more success we see in the underground movement," Sergey says.

Praise God that pressure placed on Christians by the Uzbek government has not served to hinder the gospel! Pray the Christians will continue to stand firm in the face of adversity. Pray for those serving prison terms; that they will see their sentence as a ministry opportunity, not only to their fellow inmates, but also to the government officials with whom they come into contact.

Home buyers need to be clear on the Point of Sale Tax Law. I am hopeful that it will get repealed and soon.

Here's what our backward-thinking lawmakers put on us:

Let's say you purchase a property for $300,000, you will pay property taxes on the sale price $300,000. Your neighbors, properties identical to yours will pay taxes on the assessed value--which will, more than likely be much lower then the taxes on the newly purchased home.

What if the current assessment for home in the neighborhood are at $150,000 or $200,000--they pay much less in taxes. Doesn't seem fair. And it isn't.

Secondly, the current law limits assessment increases to 15% every 5 years. Again, my neighbor will be paying lower taxes on a comparable property.

What if I am in the market to buy a home. If I have a choice between paying higher taxes or lower taxes on comparable homes, I might choose the comparable home with the lower taxes.

Things are hard enough for the housing market. t We want industry--lucky we're getting Boeing--but tax laws like this one discourage businesses from coming here. Be encouraged, the South Carolina Realtors Association is lobbying hard to get this law repealed.
