The fifth annual Asia Pacific Junior Cup will be conducted November 17-20 at the beautiful and challenging Waikoloa Beach Resort Kings’ Course on the Big Island of Hawaii. Ryder Cup-style international tournament, which features the top 16 juniors from Japan and Hawaii, with each team being represented by 10 junior boys and 6 junior girls. A portion of Junior Am will benefit the HSJGA, the Waikoloa Foundation and the American Red Cross for Tsunami Relief in Japan. The tournament will officially begin with the Opening Ceremony on Wednesday, Nov. 16, followed by three days of Ryder Cup style play (juniors will square off in Four-Ball, Singles and Foursome matches for three days). The tournament is open to the public and always proves to be an exciting and wonderful cultural event, displaying the theme of “Juniors Joining Nations”. Spectators are welcomed to attend on Nov. 17-19. Immediately following the Asia Pacific Junior Cup, a Junior Am Golf Tournament will be held on Sunday, November 20 at Waikoloa Kings’ Course. Yahoo Real Estate reclaimed the top spot in May on a list of the most popular real estate websites compiled by Experian Hitwise, bumping the National Association of Realtors' official listing portal, Realtor.com, into second place.

Hitwise showed the two sites with virtually identical market share - Yahoo Real Estatecaptured 6.51 percent of traffic in the category, compared with 6.46 percent for Realtor.com - and with comfortable cushions over third-placeZillow (5.69 percent) and fourth-place Trulia.com (4.77 percent).

Also climbing the ranks of the Hitwise top 10 were fifth-place MSN Real Estate(2.42 percent market share), which was up three positions from April, and HGTV'sFrontDoor Real Estate (2.38 percent), up four places to sixth.

Those sites' gains came at the expense of seventh-place Rent.com (2.35 percent) and eighth-place Homes.com (2.2 percent), both down one position from April, and ninth-place AOL Real Estate (2.13 percent), which fell four positions.

Waimea is a popular little town just North/East of the Kohala Coast - no more than a 20 minute drive. And home to the state of Hawaii's largest holiday light parade. Took the grandkids to this one - it's pretty amazing - never in my entire life of holiday parades have I seen one like it.

Ultraman - aka "Uberpeople"

Where on the planet can you watch someone swim for 6.2 miles, bike for more than 241 miles and then run for 52 miles inside of 3 days? On the Big Island in Hawaii you can - aka "tri-island." This is the destination spot for tri-athletes and Ultraman is the finale of all triathlons for the year. With limited sponsorship and a reputation that few can even comprehend, this 27th annual event was none-the-less amazing to watch and attend. The energy amongst the teams is friendly and very supportive. Overall, Ultraman is really just a bunch of nice people with some ultra mind-over-matter goals and they are not there for the money, media or attention. In general, the real estate market on the Big Island has shown a great deal of improvement in 2010 over 2009, which was a very challenging year. Overall, the number of property sales are up over 25% through the 3^rd quarter on the Island. The dollar volume has also increased dramatically, showing a 35% increase over the same period last year. One of the most common conversations I have with people who are considering an investment on the Big Island of Hawaii are about a rather mystifying phenomenon they refer to as "Island Fever."

I have seen it so many times. These individuals are viewing beautiful properties in this awesome setting and becoming excited about the prospect of establishing a presence here. Then, all of a sudden, the dreamy look in their eyes changes to one of confusion and concern, and they ask me, "Don't you get Island Fever living here?" My stock answer is that I really do not have a clue as to what "Island Fever" is all about. Most Famous Beach on the Big Island

Hapuna Beach - a quick 5 minute drive just north of Waikoloa Beach Resort (and next door to the Hapuna Print Hotel) and often on numerous international Top Ten beaches. Lots of parking - which is great because this is a very popular beach. In fact, it's the largest beach on the Big Island. The snack stand has some of the best Hawaii shaved ice and the kids love to turn their tongues a rainbow of colors, plus they have all sort of snorkeling and beach rental stuff. There are picnic tables and pavillions so you can bring the whole family and camp out for for the day - and they even have BBQ's. On Your Mark, Get Set, GO!

This past weekend was the annual Great Waikoloa Canoe Race. For those of us who live along the Kohala Coast, this fun family event brings together friends from all over the island. Great beach day with friends, exciting long distance racing and food. It's spectacular to see so many outrigger canoe enthusiasts make a "lamans" start ... boats on the shore on the sand, paddlers standing on the beach ready to JUMP into the canoe at the starting horn and push that 400 lb. outrigger canoe into the water and off we go - for a 7 mile round trip race up the Kohala coastline. If I wasn't so busy paddling, I'd just stare at the beauty of the coastline, the dolphins swimming along side and the turtles (honu's) silently treading water to great us.
