Thank goodness North Georgia is being blessed with a gentle steady rain!

It is often revealing to inspect homes during rainy periods. Conditions that are important are likely to be obvious.

Some of these include:

1. Poor drainage. Ground water draining to the house foundation.

2. Gutters improperly installed- water overflowing. Downspouts may be clogged.

3. Roof leaking in valleys or flashing.

4. Water standing at the walks or draining into the garage.

5. Entrance cable for the electrical system dragging on the roof material.

I have inspected many homes on very rainy days and have found that there are periods when the rain slacks off that allows checking the exterior.
