Sales up, prices too in the Myrtle Beach SC area - 08/28/09 12:59 PM
 
 It was reported today single family home sales in July jumped  9 percent according local market analyst Tom Maeser. The increases are the first in nearly two years,
The numbers indicate condominium prices are up 4 percent to $197,507.
Too early to be called a trend, but looking up for realistic sellers. Hopefully, my clients in the NE sitting on the fence will take this into consideration when deciding when to finally pull the trigger.

Beach Safety can reduce the loss of life. - 08/09/09 04:16 PM
The summer started off well with few rescues and no drownings. Sadly, that changed in the past couple weeks. Rip currents can happen any time and unexpectedly too. They are formed by normal wave action when the receding wave flow becomes concentrated in one place. Most often this is caused by a near shore sandbar. Sandbars can quickly form with normal wave and tide action. Most often these sandbars will top out just under the surface. Rental rates at the coastal Carolina beaches are down and this weekend is SALES TAX FREE! Not on the already low rental rates but on so much else. Spend your day at the beach and evenings at the malls and shops! Although North Carolina has not stated a figure but South Carolina estimates they will forego $3 million in sales tax. During the weekend, clothing, shoes, school supplies, computers and linens all will be tax-free. Most merchants have stocked up on product anticipating a busy weekend.
The event has been suspended this year in some states, including Florida and Massachusetts.

I'll confess to a sip of wine now and then... and find it very enjoyable at Belle Ami vineyard! Those living or visiting the area have two great vineyards to find great wines. Silver Coast winery will be saved for another day. Today is for La Belle Ami. If Blues and Jazz is not your favorite- read below for the entire schedule.

Sunset Beach NC - changing forever - 08/05/09 01:04 AM
I am extremely fortunate to live in a great area of the country. The weather is fantastic all but a few days a year. Coming from the winters of the northeast that really says something. There are many fantastic beaches within minutes from my home. Even during the summer tourist season the beaches are not crowded like many others. Sunset Beach NC is a small island that did not become a town until about 40 years ago. The beach is wide and the white sand shimmers all year. Ocean Isle Beach NC - Maritime Museum - 08/01/09 11:09 AM
While my grandsons were visiting they wanted to do 'something with poppa' so we headed to the museum on the beach. What a great program they have and the 6 year old twins found it fantastic! We arrived around 3PM and began touring the museum. At 3:30 a program on beach safety was given. The children were very involved in the entire process, learning and having fun. NBext they went outside as the Ocean Isle Beach fire department brought a large truck.
