north carolina: Buster - what can I do to show my appreciation? - 01/06/10 02:21 PM
Buster has been a part of the family for over 10 years. He is a great loyal friend. He has always brought joy and has never been a problem. He has better manners than many people I know. Other than guarding the house he is also a great foot warmer - quite the 22 pound furry furnace. Yes- for all he does he is provided free room & board plus medical coverage and it is money well spent.
Friday afternoon he decided to take me for a walk. We walked right up to a couple looking at a couple model homes in … (6 comments)

north carolina: Coastal Carolina - Brunswick County NC is the best kept secrete on the coast - 12/31/09 12:40 PM
It was reported in the Brunswick Beacon that Brunswick County was the 37th fastest growing county in the country during 2009. The population grew by 41% between 2000 and 2008. A large percentage but small number. Cencus Bureau numbers released last week estimate the population at 103,160. Growth during the period was estimated at 30,017. During the recent downturn- the population grew 4.2% from 2007 to 2008.
Brunswick has many reasons for growth. The cost of living is very low according to many that have moved here. Taxes for the entire year are often less than those of 2 months from where they … (2 comments)

north carolina: Beach area homes in Foreclosure - 12/21/09 04:37 AM
Santa has some real deals in all price ranges on homes in foreclosure. As always, if you snooze- you lose. All these homes are near the beach, great golf, fantastic shopping, and all the amenities of the Myrtle Beach area. If the snow storm impacted you over the weekend -- well there was 'no snow' along the Carolina coast. It seemed like a good idea to give those looking for a second home or considering relocating something to consider as I go out to fish the surf.

north carolina: Born TWO years before the Wright Brothers made their flight - 11/08/09 03:40 AM
Trudie Martin was born in October of 1901. She is 108 years old! She has always been active in church and has been there to help anyone in need. She is not an invalid although a walker comes in handy at times. When her doctor wanted to schedule her to return for a check up in 3 months she refused telling him she would call him if he was needed. Other than a vitamin she takes no medications either. No special diet for her and still liberally adds salt to her food. She is still active and received her first speeding … (7 comments)

north carolina: Saturday spent with a few great people. - 11/07/09 12:58 PM
After procrastinating for a year today was THE day to get it done. This was going to be the third time going through the program so it was not really looked forward to or it would have been done a year ago. After seeing report on CNN (or was it CNBC) it had to be done before the feds stuck their nose it. Long ago I took the course in Pa and just a few years ago an extended course in SC. Today the course lsted a full 8 hours. Mr Wood put on a very good program. He kept it … (0 comments)
