Today I Took A Day Off - 10/23/08 09:26 AM
I generally work on my real estate business for most of my waking moments.  I do take time for family and my favorite diversion; golf.
Today I took a day off to spend some time with a friend.  I'll call this friend "Fred."  It's a nickname my kids gave him years ago because he reminded them of Fred Flintstone.
Fred recently had double knee replacement surgery.  He's older than I am and a unique character in his own right.  We spent a lot of time fishing various lakes in our area and every now and then spent some time on Lake … (23 comments)

Love Story - 10/18/08 10:04 AM

I will seek and find you ...I shall take you to  bed and have my  way with you ...I'll make you ache,  shake and sweat until you moan and groan.I will make you beg for mercy, beg for me to stop.I will exhaust you to the point that you will be relieved when I'm finished with you.
And, when I am finished,  you will be weak  for days!

The Deal That Just Will Not End! - 10/13/08 10:49 AM

I had a difficult closing a while back full of nightmares and horror stories.

Here are a few:
The property was bank-owned There were delays that caused the deal to go "out of contract." The buyers did not contribute to the delays. We were under the threat of Per Diem penalties. We closed (no penalties were on the Hud-1) The seller refused to sign the Hud-1 because there were no penalties included. The buyer was threatened with even more penalties The buyer paid the penalties and we eventually closed. After we thought it was all … (15 comments)

Akron Honors Those Who Gave Their Lives In The Line of Duty - 10/10/08 09:49 AM
We tend to take so many things for granted.  They are there on a daily basis and we generally don't give them much though.  However, the sad events of 9-11 brought so much "front and center" and reminded us that our "first responders" put themselves in harms way on a regular basis.
Our brave men and women serving in law enforcement and in our fire departments perform their duties on a regular basis without thought of self.  They perform their duties with the highest level of training and serve their communities faithfully.
I have a cousin who retired from the Ohio … (1 comments)

Green High School is Proactive - 10/08/08 11:42 AM
As a former school administrator we were always concerned about the use of alcohol among members of our student body.  We were concerned for student safety and the values of use/abuse of chemical substances.
Our local high school (Green Local Schools) is taking a proactive approach in dealing with potential chemical use (especially alcohol) among students attending school events.  Local officials, and in particular our principal Joe Nicklos, will administer breathalyzer tests before permitting students to enter their annual homecoming event.  The student council played a significant role in promoting and implementing the tests; an obvious measure of their high level … (3 comments)

Businesses: The Heart of Our Local Economy - 10/08/08 11:19 AM
Business ventures in our communities are the lifeline of our local economies.  There are a wide variety of business ventures in every community with some being a vital source of service to consumers while others provide commodities important to our every day lives.
The Suburbanite, our local newspaper in Green, Ohio, did a feature on the history of businesses in our area.  According to the Suburbanite:
"Uniontown Electric is the oldest business in the same family in the Uniontown area. The business has contributed to community organizations and activities including the Uniontown community festival and local schools. PerLee Heisler opened the … (0 comments)

NONPARTISAN JOKE - 10/07/08 07:44 PM
My Golf Buddies are always feeding me jokes of one kind or another.  Given the current political climate and campaign, I thought his one might be enjoyed by most of you:
While walking down the street one day a US senator is tragically hit by a truck and dies. His soul arrives in heaven and is met by St. Peter at the entrance.'Welcome to heaven,' says St. Peter. 'Before you settle in, it seems there is a problem.. We seldom see a high official around these parts, you see, so we're not sure what to do with you.''No problem, just let … (7 comments)

Akron Wins “Wagon Wheel” Game - 10/04/08 08:55 PM
The Akron University Zips beat the Kent State Flashes 30-27 in double overtime to take the "Wagon Wheel" game for the third year in a row.
Kent State dominated the game on the ground while Akron moved the ball in the air.  Kent out rushed Akron 256 yards to 58.  Akron led the passing game 243 yards to 157 and also on the scoreboard.
Kent had an opportunity to tie the game in the final overtime but missed a 23 yard field goal attempt.
The "Wagon Wheel" is kept by the winning team until the next game with the winner gaining … (1 comments)

Track Your Listings - 10/03/08 12:51 PM
I recently read a post by Gena Riede regarding a web site tracking tool.  Her blog post is listed below for your reference.  It certainly is worth reading.
Blogging Tool I Can't Live Without
The post commented on a tracking tool that you can use to get statistics related to your blog post.  Even though this is good information I thought about how I could take it further to get information I need about not how many times things have been viewed on the interent but also who is looking at my information.  I also thought about how I could put … (5 comments)

Marty Misbrenner: Ohio Soccer Hall of Fame Inductee - 10/02/08 05:37 PM
Congratulations to Marty Misbrenner.
Marty was recently inducted into the Ohio Soccer Hall of Fame.  This honor is well deserved for a man who has dedicated his adult life to the promotion and development of the game.
I have known Marty for several years as a soccer associate.  He is a genuinely dedicated individual who has grown up with the game and has shared his knowledge to the benefit of many young people in the Akron area.  I have played against and with Marty in years long gone by in friendly games.  As a player, he was among the best in … (0 comments)

Local Rivalry Flourishes - 10/01/08 01:27 PM
Kent State and Akron University have been football rivals for as long as I can remember.  I arrived in Akron in 1966 as a young freshman (it seems so long ago) not fully understanding how important this rivalry was between these two fine institutions.
I soon found out however, after attending the first couple games of the season and marveling at the small crowds that attended Akron University games.  At that time I had seen more fans in attendance at a high school football game.  The Akron program was small and they had not yet moved forward into I-A status.

Professionalism, Motivation, and more - 10/01/08 08:08 AM
Tim Rogers has a great post related to motivation and personal triumph.  You can read his post by following the link below:
Motivational Minute - And you think this is tough?
As a former educator, high school soccer and wrestling coach, and school administrator it reminded me of those dedicated athletes I had the privilege to work with over the years.  Some of them had natural ability while some had to work hard to achieve success.  Everyone loved watching those with natural ability perform; I reveled in the success eventually achieved by those who worked hard.
I also admired those coaches … (2 comments)
