      <title>Mac vs PC</title>
      <description>&lt;p&gt;Can any of you realtors out there give me any feedback on the Mac computers and there functionality with the MLS or Paragone systems.&amp;nbsp; As most of you know Paragone uses Internet Explorer exclusively.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I have been using PC's but would like to switch to switch to a Mac.&amp;nbsp; The compatability with Internet Explorer could be a problem.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Can any of you comment on this?&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;

      <title>National Association of Realtors and DOJ</title>
      <description>&lt;p&gt;The National Association of Realtors has finally settled its long standing law suite with the Department of Justice. The National Association of Realtors represents about 1.2 million residential realtors across the country and is one of the largest lobbying groups in the country.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;As part of its agreement with the DOJ, the National Association of Realtors agreed to open its vast listing of homes for sale to cheaper, Internet-based brokers.&amp;nbsp; Hopefully the choice will lead to more choices and better savings for the end consumer, those who buy and sell real estate. It will probably lead to lower commission rates in general, which is good for the end consumer.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;NAR (National Association of Realtors) has been battling the Department of Justice since 2005 in and out of court, and describes the settlement as win win for the public and NAR.&lt;/p&gt;

      <title>Greenville South Carolina Mortgage Update</title>

These are  excellent programs and even though credit scores play a role in the approval so  does common sense.  &lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;Also please keep in mind, it more  important than ever to be sure your buyer is pre-approved before taking them out  to look at homes. It&amp;rsquo;s as simple as a phone call and takes about five minutes.       <title>Cliffs Communities pLans Golf Academy</title>
      <description>&lt;p&gt;Jim Anthony and the Cliff Communities are opening an 18-hole golf course and golf academy at Keowee Springs in Upstate South Carolina. The academy called the International Institute of Golf will open summer under the leadership of Teve Bann and Dale Lynch, well-known golf trainers for Austrialia, according to April 11th 2008 edition of the Greenville News.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;img src="file:///C:/DOCUME~1/Jonathan/LOCALS~1/Temp/moz-screenshot.jpg" alt="" /&gt;&lt;img src="file:///C:/DOCUME~1/Jonathan/LOCALS~1/Temp/moz-screenshot-1.jpg" alt="" /&gt;&lt;img src="http://activerain.com/image_store/uploads/8/5/5/1/1/ar120792407011558.jpg" height="126" alt=" " width="442" /&gt;&lt;p&gt;The academy will serve as an amenity to the eight Cliffs Communities in Upstate South Carolina and Western North Carolina.       <title>Greenville Real Estate only softened in September</title>
      <description>  &lt;p class="MsoNormal" align="center"&gt;&lt;a name="OLE_LINK2" title="OLE_LINK2"&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;a name="OLE_LINK1" title="OLE_LINK1"&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Bernanke offers assurances concerning economy and housing slump&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Sept 20&lt;sup&gt;th&lt;/sup&gt; 2007. Federal Chairman Ben Bernanke offered fresh assurances that the Fed would take steps to curb the fallout in the nation&amp;rsquo;s housing markets. &lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;The housing slump is the worst the country has seen in 16 years and home foreclosures are at record highs. Proposals are aimed at expanding federal baking of mortgages through the Federal Housing Authority. Legislation was passed on Tuesday that would increase FHA lending caps by 2%. &lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Another proposal would be to allow mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to temporarily buy, bundle and sell mortgage securities on any loans exceeding $417,000, commonly referred to as jumbo loans. &lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Right now the biggest fear is that the housing slump will drag the rest of the economy into a recession. To prevent this the Fed cut a key interest rate by &amp;frac12; a percentage point on Tuesday.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Overall, the housing slump has not really had a strong impact on &lt;a href="http://www.carolinarealtyguide.com" target="_blank"&gt;Greenville South Carolina Real Estate&lt;/a&gt; Markets.&amp;nbsp; September sells were off by over 100 units but the rest of the year has been consist with 2006 and 2006 was a very good year for Greenville SC Real Estate.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;Posted by Jonathan&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;  </description>

      <title>California Association of Realtors Making some "Real" Progress!</title>
      <description>&lt;h1&gt;California Association of Realtors paves way for State Wide MLS&lt;/h1&gt;   &lt;p&gt;Recently the California Association of Realtors approved a motion that could lead to a state wide MLS.&amp;nbsp; I personally think this is real progress in our industry that will foster efficiency and innovation. &lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt; I have run into problems with my regional boards and regional MLS&amp;#39;s here in South Carolina wanting my entire company (brokerage house) to join their MLS before they will allow any single realtor to join. In other words, the realtor and the realtor&amp;#39;s entire firm or brokerage house must join the MLS, adding to everyone&amp;#39;s expenses.&amp;nbsp; Some of these policies are just outright ridiculous&amp;nbsp; in&amp;nbsp; my opinion.&amp;nbsp;&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt; These boards and MLS&amp;#39;s need to open things up to allow&amp;nbsp; us as Realtors to be more competitive.&amp;nbsp; My company is having to join three local MLS&amp;#39;s just to get the coverage we need to operate our business.       <title>A Paradigm shift in Real Estate</title>
      <description>  &lt;p align="center"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;A Paradigm shift in Real Estate&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;Many realtors who watch the real estate industry closely are seeing a storm of sorts brewing on the horizon. This storm possibly represents major new changes to the real estate industry in the not too distant future. These new changes will be viewed by some businesses and realtors as opportunities while many more will view these changes as an endangerment, threatening the current status quo and the way of doing business.  &lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;The new storm on the horizon involves fair business practices, specifically &amp;ldquo;antitrust&amp;rdquo; in regards to competition in the real estate industry.   The Department of Justice recently filed an Antitrust lawsuit against the NAR (National Association of Realtors). NAR is one of the largest trade lobbing groups in the country representing realtors and real estate firms alike.  The Department of Justice alleges that some of NAR&amp;rsquo;s policies&lt;em&gt; &amp;ldquo;denies brokers using new technologies and business models the same benefits of MLS membership available to their competitor brokers, suppresses innovation, discourages competition on price and quality, and prevents new, efficient competitors from entering into the marketplace &amp;mdash; all to the detriment of consumers.&amp;rdquo;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;NAR has since made policy changes but is it enough to ward off the DOJ? To better understand what is happening, answers to the following questions must be examined:&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;If the National Association of Realtors (NAR) looses the lawsuit to the DOJ, what would the ramifications be for realtors and for the end consumer?  &lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;Would a major legal blow to NAR ultimately pave the way for new businesses like banks, lenders, internet companies (eg Google, Yahoo, MNS),  and insurance companies to enter the once exclusive real estate market?&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;Is the current real estate sales model efficient and cost effective for both buyers and sellers of real estate? If not, how can costs be reduced?&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;Could real estate commissions eventually disappear and could realtors one day be salaried employees? &lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;Only time will reveal the answers to these thought provoking questions and only time will reveal the outcome of the DOJ lawsuit against NAR. NAR believes strongly they will win this case with ease. Others feel the DOJ has a strong case against NAR.  The only real certainty is that the real estate industry will continue to change and evolve rapidly in the next few decades.
