Charles County's Tax Sale List for 2010 is Out - 04/21/10 10:13 AM
Charles County just published the list of properties with delinquent taxes that are going up for sale this year in the Maryland Independent. Tax sales like this are a popular way for investors to make money.
What is a Tax Sale? If you're bidding on properties in a tax sale, what you are bidding on is not the property itself but rather the right to collect the unpaid taxes, or lien, on the property. If you win a bid at a tax sale, you have the right to collect interest on the unpaid tax debt and if the debt is not … (0 comments)

Waldorf, MD 5k Run: I Survived! - 04/19/10 12:12 PM
Well, it's official: I survived the Waldorf 5k. I wasn't planning on failing, and I wasn't worried about whether or not I was going to finish. I was worried about whether or not I was going to make it! You see, I made 2 big mistakes with this years race:
Mistake #1- I was an idiot and decided to have Burger King for dinner the night before and,
Mistake #2- I slept through my alarm and woke up 15 minutes before the start of the race! Now most normal, rational individuals would know better than to chow down at a greasy … (0 comments)

Charles County Public Schools May Limit New Construction - 04/13/10 02:49 PM
The Charles County commissioners recently made some changes to now require seats (or spots for students) be open at all schools and at all levels (elementary, middle, and secondary) before more new homes are allowed to be built.
According to the Maryland Independent, this ‘one seat, one residence’ rule has allowed between 138 and 144 new homes to be built over the past year and a half (see School allocations granted). As you can see, the rule is trying to help avoid the ever present problem of school overcrowding without completely stunting residential growth to the county. However, the allocations are … (0 comments)
