This Saturday, May 11th, is the 6th annual Calvert Wine & Arts Festival.
Held at All Saints' Episcopal Church (13480 Dowell Road, Solomons), you will be able to enjoy samples of the best Patuxent Wine Trail wines, delicious food, live entertainment, children's crafts, raffles & more!
The festival begins at 11am and continues to 6pm. There is a $15 fee to sample the wines (which includes a souvenir tasting glass) but there is no fee to shop from outstanding local artisans.
This event will be held rain or shine and all proceeds go to benefit parish and community projects.

The 8th annual Solomons Maritime Festival will be this Saturday, May 4th, from 10am-5pm at the Calvert Marine Museum!
The event includes The Antique Boat and Marine Engine Show which features exhibits from over 30 collectors of antique and classic boats, and vintage marine outboard and inboard engines.
You will also be able to taste traditional foods, learn how to pick crabs and shuck oysters like pros, enjoy local gospel and old time music, hear world class water fowl calling, see Chesapeake Bay retriever in action, watch model boats skim the waters of the boat basin, and talk with traditional crafts people as they demonstrate … (2 comments)

This Friday will be the Solomon's Island Tiki Bar Grand Opening!
With good food, tropical drinks, and live music, it's a guaranteed good time :)

As I've been looking for fun things to do in the area, I've noticed that the Calvert Library has a ton of events and things to do almost every night of the week.
They have events for all ages, from small children, through the teens, and up to adults. And there are a wide range of events from book readings to concerts to gaming to workshops.

    I'm seeing more and more foreclosures, and none of the government assistance programs seem to be helping stem the tide of foreclosures that we're currently seeing.

    Here's the latest on the current Calvert County real estate market! Sluggish sales trends are continuing to force prices down while making it increasingly difficult to get a home sold due to the market pressure.
What's Good:
    The number of active, available homes on the market has fallen again.  As fewer and fewer homes are listed for sale, the difficulty in selling should (at least in theory) ease.  June of last year saw over 1,100 active listings, while in December that number was closer to 950.  There's a couple of reasons for this.

    Calvert County, much like Southern Maryland, is currently working through downward sales trends and coping with lackluster sales in the real estate market.  Although sales volume is only down by roughly 10% county wide, a look at the bigger picture gives a much better indication of what the local market is actually facing.

    I've heard some outrageous horror stories from people trying to FSBO in Southern Maryland.  I've heard rumors of real estate agents telling homeowners "There's no way you're going to sell your home without me" or "Selling FSBO is the stupidest thing you can do", or "*insert your own snooty Realtor comment here*"
