St. Charles High School has formally announced the upcoming high school's colors and mascot! According to a press release by the Charles County Board of Education (CCBOE), the colors will be Kelly Green, Navy Blue, and White.  The mascot will be the Spartan. St. Charles High School's Principal, Richard Conley, held a focus group meeting with local parents and students to gain feedback on the selection for the new school, which is due to open in August of 2014.

Hospice of St. Mary's is having their 18th annual Run & Fun Walk. During this event there will be a 5k run/fun walk and a 10k run. The race will begin at 8:30am on Leonard Hall Drive and take you on a mapped out course through Leonardtown. Warrior Dash is an obstacle race that takes you through the mud, in trenches, and over walls all to help raise money for St. Jude Children's Hospital. I have several friends and family members who have participated in the race in past years and they all said they would do it again and recommend it to anyone!

Every Wednesday night, The Boot Scooters of Southern Maryland offer FREE beginner line dancing lessons.
I went to one a few weeks ago and had a really good time! The woman teaching the lesson went slow and was really helpful on the steps that some people were having trouble with. And if you aren't a huge fan of country music, that's okay, there are line dances to almost any song you can think of! We learned 2 'easy' dances that evening and were invited to stay and watch or participate in more advanced dances afterwards.
