Where to Shoot Photos in the Bluebonnets in Huntsville, Texas - 03/31/11 10:56 PM
Texas Bluebonnets

For those of you looking for a great spot in Huntsville to take photos in the bluebonnets.... I think I’ve found the perfect place. It is on 7th Street, right across the street from the Frisbee Golf park. The street is wide, not as highly traveled as SH 19 -- AND their is a FIELD of bluebonnets with trees and a wooden fence in the background. Stay tuned for some field shots... and TUESDAY I will post some of Zoë in the bluebonnets!

Why Tuesday?! Because the girl has to get her hair done first! … (13 comments)

The Princess Ball 2011 - 03/27/11 02:05 AM
Here's a little photo video of The Princess Ball that was held at our church. The girls were each presented with a tiara from their daddy. The were told to write a letter to their dad and the dad's were told to write a letter to them. Neither knew that the other was doing it. Some tears were shed. (Okay, YES... I cried too!!) They danced, they twirled... dinner was served and it was just a GREAT time!
Nope... I don't have any little girls... I just got to go because I have a camera. Wow! So thankful for that camera! … (13 comments)

Fishing Lake Livingston! WHAT's going on? There are trailers EVERYWHERE! - 03/26/11 12:54 PM
Fishing Lake Livingston!

As I was traveling to Trinity this morning, I couldn’t help but notice all the trucks and trailers EVERYWHERE! The public boat ramp in Riverside was packed and overflowing.

They filled every space, were parked up the hill... and even along both the north and south bound lanes of Highway 19 in Riverside.

I googled to see if there was a fishing tournament going on and nope, no fishing tournament!

The hubby stopped by the office and I asked him. The answer....
The white bass are still running. They … (4 comments)

Thankful Thursday: Sale Pending in Oakwood Village! - 03/24/11 11:54 PM

This "Like New" (2006) single wide is sitting on four beautiful acres in Oakwood Village which is located about 8 miles east of Riverside, Texas. This subdivision is actually in San Jacinto county but it is so close to Riverside that we like to think of them as us! Like Riverside, the residents of Oakwood Village have a Huntsville mailing address. WE ARE RURAL!! ☺
One of the things that I love about Oakwood Village is the fact that the homes are not right on top of each other. Most are on small acreage and well maintained. It's a great subdivision and this is … (11 comments)

Sam Houston's Steamboat House - Huntsville, Texas - 03/24/11 12:16 PM

The Steamboat House

Part of the Sam Houston Memorial Museum Complex
Sam Houston never owned this house, he just rented it (see photo below). What makes it interesting, is that this is where he died. You can visit this house, along with with his Woodland Home at the park named in his honor located at 19th Street and Sam Houston Avenue in Huntsville, Texas.

Don’t forget to stop by his grave at the Historical Oakwood Cemetery before you leave. Huntsville is full of interesting things to do that are free or for a very nominal fee. … (11 comments)

Lake Oolooteca (Better known as 'The Duck Pond') Huntsville, Texas - 03/22/11 05:04 PM

Lake Oolooteca (AKA The Duck Pond)
This photo was shot at Lake Oolooteca (The Duck Pond) at the Sam Houston Memorial Museum park located on Sam Houston and 19th Street in Huntsville, Texas.
The Sam Houston Memorial Museum Complex is a great place to do photos for any occasion. Last year while I was shooting prom pictures, we saw a photographer doing a wedding. When I took these photos last week, there was another photographer doing some children's photos in front of the azaleas. The stairs to the homes, old bricks on the fireplaces, and  log cabins make interesting backgrounds. Silent Sunday: A Visit from Charlie Chaplin - 03/13/11 11:55 PM

When I was a child we used to lay in the grass and look up at the clouds and describe the things that we saw. We would try to get our friends to see what we saw. Evidently I never quite grew out of the game and I have since taken it to the extreme. Last fall I shared a rooster with you that reminded me of Tina Turner and today I have a pansy that reminds me of Charlie Chaplin. LOL! Perhaps it's the daylight savings time messing with my brain!  LOL!

Signs of Spring in Walker County: Tulip Trees - 03/10/11 11:17 PM
When I first saw one of these, I dubbed it a TULIP Tree.
So when the hubby and I went to Stewart's Nursery...
(This was MANY years ago!)
We walked right up to the counter
and asked for a tulip tree.
Without batting an eye, the lady
proceeded to show me right where the tulip trees
were located... and politely informed us
that they are called...

Saucer Magnolias.
(muffled snickers)
We purchased one...
Took it to the truck... and
voted.

It was unanimous...
OURS was going to be a TULIP tree! ☺

Thankful Thursday: Thank You note from Evelyn's Daughter :))) - 03/10/11 10:24 PM

For those of you who may not read my blog very often, Evelyn was one of my best girlfriends up at Ella Smither Geriatric Center in Huntsville. Over the past 2 years, she and I have had lots of fun together and spent many hours laughing, and causing trouble (mischievous grin). Evelyn passed away last month.
Today I received this sweet note in the mail from Evelyn's daughter.
My favorite thing about the note is the closing line... "My mom just loved for you to come visit." Those words are music to my ears and comfort to my grieving heart. … (7 comments)

Tuesday's Treasures: Don't take the bridge over troubled waters! - 03/08/11 11:23 PM

God never promised us a bridge over troubled waters. There are times that I have wished that he had. You know... let me take the bridge OVER the problems so I don’t have to get wet! When I am afraid to get  in the rapids... it is only because of my fear that they will carry me away with them.If you are feeling that way right now, I totally understand. It is sometimes hard to put on the life vest (Jesus),
take deep breaths (make a conscious decision)....
close our eyes. (pray)...
hold the nose (proceed with care)...
