Local Youth Raise Funds for a Toy Store at Christmas

The youth department at the Riverside Baptist Church are having a garage sale this Saturday, August 4, 2012 from 8:30 am to 2 pm.  The sale will be held INSIDE the church in the Fellowship Hall. So come RAIN or SHINE!! The the air conditioning will be ON and you can shop till you drop!!

I have missed you all LIKE crazy!
Here’s a glimpse of what I have been doing every night this week from 5:30 to 9:00 pm.
I shot over 700 photos and I have no idea how many video clips. I made this short video on iMovies. It's a combination of short video clips and still shots from my iPhone. Normally I use app this to do virtual tours of my property listings.

The Children’s Christmas Extravaganza Was GREAT!

No show goes on without a few hiccups!

And The Children's Christmas Extravaganza was no exception!
Our little girls were scheduled to open the event singing The 12 Days of Christmas.  Each girl was assigned a day with EVERYONE singing “and a partridge in a pear tree”.  

Well.... Day number 5 was nowhere to be found.

WHAT?!

No “5 Golden Rings”?!



As always... Brother Jim was eager to fill in wherever needed. EVEN if it meant being a little girl for a bit.

December Season of Celebrations and Sharing: The Toy Store
  This past weekend the youth of Riverside Baptist Church held open their Toy Store.   The Toy Store is a mission project that the youth work on all year long. The do fundraisers throughout the year to raise money to purchase toys for the toy store.   Families that are in need of assistance with gifts for their children sign up through the church office and are assigned a time to visit the store. Some of you know that the Texas Baptist Men's Retiree Builders are in Riverside, Texas helping Riverside Baptist Church build a new Crisis Closet to serve our community. These men, at their own expense, travel to the site with thier RV's and set up camp. They bring their own equipment, and volunteer their labor. The average age of a volunteer is 72 years old. Riverside Baptist Church is doing Vacation Bible School this week. Last year I taught 1st and 2nd graders. Besides the fact that that age is the wildest of the entire bunch -- it is really difficult to do the pictures AND teach. The only way for me to get away to take photos of all of the kiddos was to work in the kitchen.
For those of you who know me.... you probably just spit your drink on the computer screen. WHAT? Joni in the kitchen?! You've got to be kidding!

The Girls in Action group from Riverside Baptist Church went Christmas Caroling on Friday evening. They visited the homes of Claude and Betsy Null, Marjorie Bailey (TPM), Betty Newton, Dot Morgan, Pat Ford and Sayrah and Randell Vincent.
The visit to Dot's house was impromptu as she was standing in her door clapping as the tractor went by her house on the way to Ms. Betty's. I didn't get to take a whole lot of pictures because I was working the nail painting booth with Terry!
