Check out Sam Houston's Law Office located on the grounds of the Sam Houston Memorial Museum Complex. From what I understand, no women or children were allowed inside Sam's Law Office. YIKES! I guess that meant that women didn't get in trouble back then -- or else we got away with it! ☺ Visit The Law Office for yourself and find out!!

The Houston Kitchen is a replica of what a kitchen looked like in Sam Houston’s era. In addition to cooking, the kitchen was used to do laundry, make candles and soap, and also for bathing.
For several reasons,the kitchen was not part of the home like it is today. Families built their kitchens near the home, but not attached to it. Safety was a main concern as there were lots of fires in kitchens because of all the grease that they cooked with. Another concern was (20 comments)
Part of the Sam Houston Memorial Museum Complex Sam Houston never owned this house, he just rented it (see photo below). What makes it interesting, is that this is where he died. You can visit this house, along with with his Woodland Home at the park named in his honor located at 19th Street and Sam Houston Avenue in Huntsville, Texas.
Don’t forget to stop by his grave at the Historical Oakwood Cemetery before you leave. Huntsville is full of interesting things to do that are free or for a very nominal fee. (11 comments)
