As a Tampa custom home builder, we are often asked how to invoke charm into a new home. This tour gives you the opportunity to walk through some amazing homes, in Tampa’s first subdivision. As a designer, I like to look to the past for ideas for our custom homes. The workmanship in the trim and molding is always inspiring. However, I’ve said it before...but it is worth repeating; I appreciate the charm of old homes, but (0 comments)
tampa home builder: If New Tampa Bay Homes Could Talk, What Would They Say? - 03/05/12 05:15 AM
Aren’t you curious what your home would say? I am. I can imagine my home speaking to me in a James Earl Jones Darth Vader voice, “Jon, I am your house. You don’t know the power of clean AC filters and gutters. Perhaps, I can find new ways to motivate you.” Okay, I’ll admit that I’ve been watching Star Wars with my kids a bit too much, but that would probably be enough to get me off the couch.
As entertaining as it might be to have our new Tampa homes talk to us about maintenance, I’d be more interested (1 comments)
tampa home builder: I Meant What I Said and I Said What I Meant: Javic Homes Is Faithful One-hundred Percent! - 03/02/12 05:10 AM
By Lana Bingham, Marketing Assistant Today is an exciting day for both children and parents, not only is it Dr. Seuss’ birthday, but it is also opening day of the long-anticipated movie, “The Lorax.” As home builders in Tampa Florida, we greatly enjoy creating custom homes for families with children of all ages. “A person's a person, no matter how small.” - Horton Hears a Who! A child’s room is a playground for imagination, laughter and creation. So, why not make it the most amazing and inspired room in the house? Despite their young age, children are bursting with ideas, knowledge (0 comments)

tampa home builder: Decorating with Art - 02/27/12 05:11 AM
By Missi McCombs, Javic Homes Designer An empty wall cries out for attention! Give your walls the attention they deserve by selecting a neutral wall color and buying art that you love.
In order to make your art the focal point of a wall, select a paint color that has neutral undertones, and let the art act as the accessory or the wall candy. No, I’m not talking about “builder white” paint, rather a color with a subtle hue that allows your art to stand out. Some of my favorite neutral colors include Sherwin Williams “Panda White” if your art (1 comments)
Well Planned – Being a custom home builder in Tampa, we are well aware of the intricate planning process that is required to create a custom closet. Designers must take a thorough look at inventory before creating building plans, as 120 pairs of shoes can take up a great deal of closet space. Center Island – This is the staple of many designer closets, containing drawers stocked full of jewelry, undergarments, and random apparel accessories. Besides being convenient for organization, the island can also accommodate (2 comments)
Got the Blues? Light blue is a popular color for coastal homes, comparing with the ocean or a cloudless sky (try “Fountain” blue by Sherwin Williams). Painting a room in a light blue hue will create a tranquil atmosphere, while dark blue (“Naval”) can suggest deep meaning and insight (save (58 comments)
tampa home builder: Presidents Day or Washington’s Birthday? - 02/20/12 05:58 AM
I’m willing to bet that few young people realize that Presidents Day was originally designed as a holiday to celebrate George Washington on his birthday. Actually, I think most people believe it’s simply one of the better shopping days of the year with retailers offering some rock bottom prices.
I’m no historian, but back in the late 1800s, Washington’s birthday officially became a national holiday. After all, he was one of our greatest Presidents and had one of the greatest roles in the founding of our nation and creating our Constitution. So for about a hundred years, we celebrated and (1 comments)
The International Builders Show was recently held in Orlando, Florida. This show is the largest builders’ show in the world with over 800 different exhibitors showcasing their products. We joined over 50,000 folks in the building industry at the show, with our goal to look for inspirational ideas and new products for custom homes in Tampa and St. Pete. Of all of the products we saw my favorite innovative ideas ranged from simple/cost effective to wow factor extravagance. I am almost embarrassed to admit that my favorite new idea has nothing to do with (3 comments)

tampa home builder: Fireplace or Fire Pit – A Burning Question for Custom Homeowners - 02/13/12 08:12 AM
With our area’s recent chilly days, we thought it was time to discuss ways to warm up those outdoor areas that we Floridians love so much. Deciding between a fireplace and fire pit is a decision that we find ourselves discussing in many of our custom homes. Both have great features for providing warmth, light and enjoyment, but there are some key differences.
As a Tampa home builder, we have learned that it comes down to a few key questions to make this decision work best for each homeowner. How many people are you looking to have around the fire? (5 comments)
tampa home builder: Battle of the Brands: Top Appliances in the Kitchen - 02/10/12 03:56 PM

We desire products that are innovative, efficient, long-lasting and compatible with our kitchen’s design elements. The following brands will suit your home perfectly, providing you with the best balance of performance and value.
When it comes to refrigerators and freezers, Sub-Zero is a renowned favorite. tampa home builder: It's Raining Cats and Dogs In Tampa Bay - 02/06/12 01:34 PM
February is Responsible Pet Owner’s Month! Having just added a new member to our family, I can attest to the fact that a puppy is a lot like having a baby. We thought long and hard about whether our family was ready for the responsibility of training, feeding, playing and taking care of our sweet (albeit rambunctious) bundle of joy! However, as a designer and neat freak I was not mentally prepared for all of the stuff! It is amazing how quickly a pet’s stuff can add up. In order to truly be a responsible pet owner, consider storage options, specific (0 comments)
tampa home builder: Most Helpful Mobile Apps for Tampa Homeowners - 02/03/12 08:33 AM
The age of mobile technology is upon us and those who choose not to conform are being left in the dust (alongside last year’s outdated edition of the iPhone). Staying informed and connected has now become a top priority, and thanks to mobile phone applications, we can do just about anything right from our cell phones and tablets.
Mobile Apps work great for booking reservations, playing online games and even teaching you Mandarin Chinese...but what about when it comes to homes? Houzz (Free) allows users to create a virtual idea book for their home or browse other members stock of (1 comments)
tampa home builder: Beat That Déjà vu Feeling - 02/02/12 09:20 AM
Feeling like Bill Murray in Groundhog Day? With today being Groundhog Day, we try to beat down the winter blues, but all I can think of is the classic movie where Murray repeats the same day over and over.
This is the same feeling many people have when they walk into builder’s communities and model homes. They all look the same. Well, that’s because they are the same. When it comes to most builders, you have a limited number of plans to choose. If you are lucky, you can do a little tweak here and there. If you are (1 comments)

tampa home builder: Gadgets That Help Maintain Your Home - 01/28/12 04:03 PM
What gadget makes your home mainteance easier? I’m firmly on record as someone that doesn’t enjoy doing home maintenance. If you’re anything like me (and I know you are), lets discuss a few gadgets to help lighten the load.
Few people enjoy house cleaning. Maybe it’s therapy for some people, but for most of us, it’s a dreaded chore. Check out a robotic floor cleaner. There are several on the market, but iRobot’s Roomba is a popular one. These things are great. You turn them on and they do the work. Whether it’s wood, tile, carpet or any flooring surface – you can (5 comments)
tampa home builder: How to Avoid the Handyman - 01/26/12 08:45 AM
People are usually surprised when I tell them that I’m one of the least handy homebuilders around. It’s not that I can’t do the typical maintenance items around the house. I just don’t want to.
Just to be clear, I’m not lazy. My dad instilled in me a solid work ethic and I live by it, but I generally abhor home maintenance. It always takes longer than I expect, and more importantly, it takes me away from my limited time with my family. It seems the more people I talk to, the more I realize that I’m not an alien (16 comments)
