daytona beach shores: Some Mighty Competitors Out There - 05/14/12 07:54 AM
Being in vacation and event spot means that you get mighty competition. I remember my lazy photos of Shuttle launch made from Ponce Inlet, and before I got down to my condo from the garage, which was couple of minutes, and wrote a short blog, I was stunned to see a blog post already published by Gary Woltal, and boy, what a phenomenal photo of this Shuttle did he have there. I have never been that close to the Shuttle in my life. It felt like he was with the crew there, so freaking close, that you sort of could see

daytona beach shores: Quiet "Winter" Morning on the Intracoastal in Daytona Beach Shores - 01/26/12 06:20 PM
Quiet "Winter" morning on the Intracoastal in Daytona Beach Shores We are getting just days away from February, but the temperature is more like in March, and in the last week even the water in the ocean went up from 66F to 68F. It is really comfortably warm, and in the car you need AC. It was 76F on the beach at 6 PM. Absolutely not bad. Of course, we have another month – February – which is considered second coldest month, and the weather can change practically instantly, so the winter is not over yet, but there isn’t much

daytona beach shores: Perfect Evening in Daytona Beach Shores - 10/01/11 02:22 PM
Perfect evening in Daytona Beach Shores. Air temperature – 83F, water temperature – 83F. It all changes tomorrow as the first cold front is coming and for the first time in several months night temperature will fall below 70F. They say that on Saturday we will not go higher than 78F, and after high 80s and low 90s for months, it will feel like winter (don't laugh at me, it is all relative...) But today I am enjoying this warm temperature. The water is so perfect, that I did not want to get out of the Ocean. This is the beauty

daytona beach shores: Friendly Sharks - 07/24/11 10:46 AM
William Johnson posted Photography| The Longest Pier on the West Coast - Ocean Beach Pier! It is a stunning photo of the longest concrete pier on the West Coast, but it is not the length that makes the blog post so fascinating, it is the beauty of the photo. There is a small cafe on the pier near to the far end of it, and Kristen Lindquist left a comment and said that she would not venture to this cafe as she was afraid of sharks. And that's where I thought that our Daytona sharks are friendlier. You can be

daytona beach shores: Daytona Beach Shores. July 23, 2011 - 07/23/11 09:01 PM
July along with August is the hottest month in Daytona Beach. www.weather.com shows that is 84F at 7:30 PM. They show that tomorrow we will have 92F. It is 95F in New York, where we lived before coming to Florida. That's why I love when New Yorkers tell me that it is hot in Florida. We are often cooler in summer, and yes, we are warmer in winter, but isn't it what New Yorkers want in the midst of cold and tiring winter? I am a beachside resident and we will not have 92F on the beach tomorrow. It will

daytona beach shores: The Beach... I Mean Daytona Beach - 07/20/11 02:23 AM
It is mid July in Daytona, summer in full swing, hot and humid everywhere, except right on the Beach. The ocean breeze brings cooler air and makes walking on the beach a pleasure. I am on the beach each evening except when it is raining. You can't get tired of this view. It is always different, and it changes every minute. The sun, the clouds, the waves... they all affect how the ocean looks and there are more combinations up the nature's sleeve than chances in winning a jackpot in Powerball. I bring my heavy Canon 5D Mark II, but leave it

daytona beach shores: Evening in Daytona Beach Shores on the Eve of 4th of July - 07/03/11 02:09 AM
My best shots are those that I have no taken. When I do not have my camera with me, that's when the best photo ops are happening. Yesterday it looked gloomy, but there was no rain, and I figured that there was no reason to take a camera with me. My nearly 11-yo grandson is with us this week. We took a short drive to the closest park a half mile from us, and when I got out of a car, I saw that the ocean was just beautiful. The water was the color of steel and there was no horizon,

daytona beach shores: After the Rain. Rainbow - 06/26/11 11:58 PM
It was getting dark in the middle of this Sunday... Clouds were getting heavier and rain was just minutes away. I was to meet a client at the airport and take him to see the condo unit in Oceans Six in Daytona beach Shores, that he bought, but has not yet seen. Of course, I wanted him to like it, and I hoped the rain will be over by the time we get to the unit. It worked perfectly. the sun came out, and made everything so nice. Looking at this photo it is hard to believe that only

daytona beach shores: Amazing, What An IPhone Can Do... - 06/11/11 03:50 PM
The beauty of summer is that days are long, and even if you are late in the office, you still have all the time to enjoy the ocean and the beach. I live in Daytona Beach Shores, less than 10-minute drive from my office, and this is a rare time when I am on the beach every evening. I usually only have my I-Phone with me, and every time I regret that I do not have my Canon Mark II, as the changing beauty is overwhelming, and you always have the feeling that you will never see it like that… which

daytona beach shores: June Evening in Daytona Beach Shores - 06/08/11 10:58 PM
In June days stay long and the sun is lazy to roll into the Intracoastal, and moves slowly, hiding behind marshmallow clouds, firing up the edges. White clouds up in the sky that are no longer basking in the sun become darker and grayer, and those lucky ones to be in the way, turn pink. The wind is high and the clouds move fast getting darker and heavier. They are promising rain, though this is yet just a whisper... Street lights are still not on, and headlights of cars are like a myriad of bright bulbs on dark asphalt.

daytona beach shores: Evening After Thunderstorm in Daytona Beach Shores - 05/28/11 03:39 PM
The blunt of the thunderstorm was across the Intracoastal, but you could see the lightning and still hear the sound of thunder... I was working at my computer watching the retention pond filling up with water turning it into what we call «seasonal waterfront". I did not notice when the rain stopped, and then suddenly saw the clouds lit with sunlight. It was such a metamorphose... I rushed to the roof with my camera, as I have been waiting for this moment for some time. The ocean was dark. The sky over the Intracoastal was dark, but the sun was making

daytona beach shores: Life is Coming Back to Daytona Beach Shores - 05/21/11 11:33 PM
We are getting into busy season here in Daytona. Hotels get busier and busier and it is not even unusual to see a «no vacancy» sign on weekends, when Daytona is packed with tourists, locals from Orlando and other inland areas, and participants and spectators of events, which still make Daytona what it is: Daytona. Here's the shot on Saturday in the pool area of Hawaiian Inn Resort, a popular condo-hotel in Daytona Beach Shores. The resort is just getting out of the major renovation and has completed concrete restoration. All balconies are new, and there are still a couple

daytona beach shores: Sunglow Pier and Crabby Joe's Deck & Grill in Daytona Beach Shores - 05/20/11 11:57 PM
Sunglow Pier is a staple in Daytona Beach Shores. One of the places where you can always find fishermen... With a restaurant Crabby Joe's Deck & Grill, it is a very popular place both with locals and tourists. Of course, with my vegan diet, I am enjoying it from the outside. It is less than 2 miles from where I live, and when I choose to go south for a walk, this is where I go. It is next to one of the most beautiful condos in Daytona Beach area - Ocean Villas. There are always people by the pier, you hear

daytona beach shores: Evenings in Daytona Beach Shores - 05/17/11 03:07 AM
Evenings in Daytona Beach Shores sometimes display such an array of colors, that you can only stop in awe and watch. Setting sun splits the sky and paints it gradually from ink to turquoise, clouds catch the light of the sinking sun and you have them from gray-blue to pink... And it keeps changing every minute... You are just staying and watching it... My new camera gets rightfully frustrated with me, that I still can't figure many things out. I am getting excited and just take pictures and not really checking how they come. So then at home I am deleting,

daytona beach shores: Evening in Daytona Beach Shores - 05/16/11 02:29 AM
Today we went to the beach a bit later than usual. We enjoy perfect temperatures, warm but not hot. The water in the ocean is 74, which is still cold for locals, and tourists have it all for themselves. We walked for over an hour and a half, and were coming back watching the full moon rising above the ocean. By the moment we got to the Atlantic Ave, the moon was already high enough and was shining over the condominium buildings in the Oceans Complex in Daytona Beach Shores. It just started getting darker and the scenery was gorgeous. I did

It is a Holiday weekend in Daytona Beach Shores. Time to relax, to party, to have a glass of wine at a local restaurant, or have a barbeque with your family and friends. I live in Daytona Beach Shores now, I am looking at a golf course out of my window. There is no breeze, absolutely quiet… What is happening in Daytona Beach Shores today? For the list of events we go to the City Of Daytona Beach Shores official site. “No events planned at this time. Check back at a later date.” But don’t rush to conclusions. Look at the

daytona beach shores: Staying In The Way Of Tsunami - 07/12/09 11:09 PM
Just wanted to say that we are unrealistic, when we are demanding that people act honorably in this economic crisis. Yes, lenders were pressed to start serving those who were, let's say, risky borrowers, but once started, then whoever joined, were getting loans right and left. When we open the floodgates, the water rushes through and it takes everything with it. You may try to resist, but the mighty power of the flow will suck everyone into it. It is like staying in the way of a tsunami... I think we opened the floodgates without any exit strategy, any idea how it might affect us
