Georgia Dream - Another Uptick in the Interest Rate - Feb 14 2013
Today Georgia Dream published its weekly update, and the interest rate has risen another 125 basis points.  The previous week's interest rate was 3.000%.  This week's interest rate is 3.125%.  Interestingly enough the rate uptick cooincides with announcement from HUD that the FHA Mortgage Insurance Premium will take on siginificant changes on April1, 2013. Effective Thursday January 24, 2013 at 5PM, Georgia Dream increased its interest rate from 2.875% to 3.000%.  This change in the interest rate is a slight uptick for the Georgia Dream Homeownership Program.  The interest rate has been flat at 2.875% since September 27, 2012.  This news is still great for buyers, because the rate is still lower than most of the market.

Goergia Dream rates continue to be below market.  This is a great way for buyers to get some financial assistance in the process of purchasing their first home. The rate for buyers not using the down payment assistance is 3.25%, and the rate for buyers using the down payment assistance is 3.50%.  
The Georgia Dream amount of down payment assistance for qualified Atlanta home buyers starts at $5000 which is more than enough to cover a $100,000 purchase price on an Atlanta property.  For police and other safety personnel and teachers, the amount goes up to $7500.

Georgia Dream - Twenty One Month Interest Rate Low - 3.875% and 4.125%
The interest rates for the Georgia Dream Homeownership Program dropped to a twenty one month low on Thursday, March 15th.  The Georgia Dream first mortgage rate dropped to 3.875% and the Georgia Dream first mortgage rate combined with the down payment loan dropped to 4.125%.  These rates are the lowest we have seen for the Georgia Dream Homeownership Program in a while.  Previous rates during the same period have been as high as 5.25% for the first mortgage and 5.50% for the first mortgage with down payment loan.
