Type A vs. Type B - 05/29/08 11:21 PM
Buyers v.s Browsers
Type A: A tendency towards tenseness, impatience, and aggressiveness. Type B: A tendency towards a relaxed manner, patience, and friendliness. Both of these personality types have their merits, and both tendencies exist in all of us to some degree. But when it comes to homebuyers, Type As are the ones you want to be working with.So who makes better buyers, Type A's or Type B's? Well, Type A buyers are the ones who are urgently seeking a home. They have a deadline and a willingness to make concessions to get what they want. They're probably moving to the … (5 comments)

How Much Money Should You Borrow? - 05/27/08 10:56 PM
While it might be tempting to borrow whatever amount of money your lender is willing to give you, it's important to think carefully about how much you'll actually need to borrow in order to purchase a new home. From the down payment to taxes to insurance and interest rates, there are many factors to consider when making this important, life-changing decision. Contrary to popular sentiment, there is no standard formula for accurately calculating the specific dollar amount you should borrow when purchasing a new home. Many websites do offer special borrower calculators that claim to factor in important variables, and yet … (0 comments)

It's Finally Friday - 05/23/08 09:49 AM
A great song that gets a friday going for me before a weekend is "It's Finally Friday" by George Jones.
If you have not heard if before, don't worry i've got you covered.

So what's my Wild weekend look like. Well, I am going to Ft. Lewis Washington to see my girlfriend and go hang out in Seattle and Tacoma Washington. Thank you to Steve Hoffacker who suggested we visit the Argosy boat tour around Puget Sound. We will be checking that out along with the Space Needle and going to Pikes Place Market.
What do you have planned for … (1 comments)

Creative Tax Tips for Real Estate Agents - 05/21/08 11:27 PM
Money-Saving Ideas You Won't Want to Miss!!
Albert Einstein once said that "the hardest thing in the world to understand is income tax." For Einstein, tax return preparation was the business of "philosophers, not mathematicians." If there's anyone who can truly relate to this famous quote, it's a real estate professional. With fluctuations in income and an ever-changing real estate market, it's easy to see how one or two minor mistakes can be costly or even detrimental to your bottom line. As a mortgage professional, your success is important to me, and so I'm always searching for ways to add value to … (5 comments)

Form the Foundation to your Sales Success! - 05/21/08 12:12 AM
In Jeffrey's new book "The Sales Bible" he talks about the 10.5 commandments of sales success.
The 10.5 Commandments of Sales Success are:
1. THINK - The sale is in your head.
2. BELIEVE - Develop a four-part belief system that can't be penetrated.
3. ENGAGE - Develop a rapport and personal engagement, or don't start the selling (buying) conversation.
4. DISCOVER - People buy for their reasons, not yours. Find out theirs first.
5. ASK - Ask the wrong questions - get the wrong answers.
6. OBSERVE - Your ability to observe must be as powerful as your ability to sell … (1 comments)

Avoid Changes to Your Financial Profile during the Loan Process - 05/18/08 06:36 PM
Once your loan package has been sent to the lender, there are a number of things you should avoid doing that will change your financial picture. Remember, the lender is looking for stability and consistency. If you want the best interest rate, keep that in mind. Here are a few things to consider:The lender is looking to see what your source of down payment is.Your lender will most likely ask you to provide proof of your liquid assets. This includes bank statements for checking and savings accounts, verification of investments, and any other liquid assets. Some of the things they ask … (0 comments)

Influencing Others - 05/16/08 09:35 PM
Dale Carnegie's classic book, How to Win Friends & Influence People*, was first published in 1936 and has sold more than 15 million copies worldwide. Carnegie's book is a primer for how to be truly likable, genuinely kind, and lovingly followed.Somewhat sadly, kindness and sincerity don't make for good drama, and most of the entertainment out there shows people at their most base, most selfish, and most cunning. It's easy to forget how a real leader should behave in light of the bad examples that have been set in recent years. With that in mind, I'd like to expound on some of … (2 comments)

Credit Card Fine-Print Pitfalls - 05/16/08 12:56 AM
Credit card companies are great at marketing their latest features, but before you or your clients sign on the dotted line, read the fine-print carefully and look for some of the following fine-print pitfalls: Cash Advances - The convenience of getting cash is very expensive when it comes to some credit cards. Many credit cards not only charge an upfront fee of up to 4% of the advance, they also carry higher interest rates than other charges on the same card, and have no grace period whatsoever. But here's the sneaky part: many credit card companies will require that balances for … (0 comments)

Life After Bankruptcy - 05/15/08 12:15 AM
Bankruptcy is an uncomfortable subject for a variety of reasons. The most obvious is the potential havoc it can wreak on your finances. Running a close second is the negative stigma which is often attached to the process. This negativity is important to mention because strong emotions can sometimes lead to unsound financial decisions with devastating results.
Bankruptcy becomes a viable option for someone who is "upside down" in terms of cash flow. In other words, when a person has more money going out each month than coming in, bankruptcy should be considered if no reversal of this negative cash flow … (3 comments)

Making Dreams a Reality..... Shaping Your World by Thought - 05/09/08 12:26 AM
There's no end to the number of motivational speakers and self-help "gurus" who make a name for themselves by re-hashing old ideas. But there is truth to these ideas, and I especially wanted to share one of the ideas from the great-grandfather of self-help, James Allen.Allen's treatise, As A Man Thinketh, was first published at the turn of the twentieth century. His central notion is that our thoughts are under our control, and that they in turn determine our emotions, our health, and even our circumstances."Circumstance does not make the man; it reveals him to himself. No such conditions can exist … (2 comments)
