Retirement Property or Vacation Home... Maybe Both!

Real estate has emphasized for many years the concept of location, location, location ...

There has been a predominant look at various international locations, such as Mexico, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Panama, and the Dominican Republic among other places in Central America and the Caribean for purchasing either retirement property or a vacation home.

Any real estate investment requires careful evaluation, and what may appeal to one person may not necessarily suite another after all the details are considered. Some people prefer watching the splashing waves in front of the beach, while others prefer the panoramic views from the top of majestic mountains... and then others may just like a little or alot of both. There are some very good choices to make, especially when looking to acquire a home for your retirement or that periodic vacation.

Here are some of the options to consider, as mentioned previously you can now search for real estate in foreign countries which have made accomodations for U.S. and Canadian retirees/investors. Locations like Costa Rica, have invested in the development of communities which offer very desireable amenities in their housing and supporting infrastructures. These countries continue to draw the appeal of a certain segment within the real estate market, specifically retirees and investors, by emphasizing a quieter and more relaxed lifestyle. A very attractive selling point to many.

For those who seek a similar adventure in their real estate portfolio, but would rather leave the fumbling for the passport and looking up the current monetary exchange rate to someone else, there is still paradise to be found in other locations. Places such as the Islands of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, both U.S. territories in the Caribbean, have coastal towns that offer various levels of potential for investment and lifestyle opportunities. Many are located within driving distance to nationally recognized department stores, and commonly known restaurants, which can serve as an occasional change of pace for those relocating to the tropics. Beautiful beaches, tropical rainforests, old spanish fortresses and colonial settings can be a part of your daily living.

If traveling on a plane is not of much interest, but small town mountain retreats are still part of the agenda, places like Tennessee can provide you with the fascinating views of creations daily presence. Oh, and if you'd like to stay close to the sunshine... without leaving the U.S. mainland, Florida beaches can be within minutes from your new home.

So, whether you want an acre of land to build your home, or if a little studio by the beach will do, starting your search for that desired piece of real estate property could prove to be a good long term investment.

School, Florida, Trip to the Caribbean, or lets get that House.

Well, school is about to start in a few weeks, so if you've been thinking about taking that last minute summer vacation, the time is about now. The question some might have is where should I go?

A valid question, with a number of possibilities. Some might want to visit friends and family. Whereas others prefer the adventure of going someplace exciting, and then of course there are those who look for a nice quiet spot to just lay their heads and relax... forgetting the concerns of everyday living.

If you'd like to see exotic animals in the wild, or sit by the splashing edge of the sea or ocean, then maybe a trip to Florida will be just what you've been looking for. Mornings have been sunny and warm, with late afternoon showers that are typical during the summer.

Now if you want something a bit more challenging, go to the closest U.S. Rainforest you can find south of Florida... El Yunque in Puerto Rico. You'll still have the beautiful beaches to choose from, old cobblestone streets and it's historic Walled City.

If you still want something different, then why not Alaska, not sure about the beaches there, but as I've heard it's a great place to visit. And if you happen to know someone who says, they can't take that vacation right now because they are close to having just enough to buy that home they've been saving for... have them give me a call, I'll do my best to make that purchase part of a memorable summer.

South Plantation High School: Shining Light on New Energy Resources

I want to take the opportunity to introduce the South Plantation High School Solar Knights, for those of you who are unfamiliar with their project. I met them at the Tower Shops Car Show in Davie, Florida about three Friday's ago. They have put together a fully functional solar-powered car, which at the show had people walking around the vehicle, asking questions such as how much did it cost, how does it work, etc. My conversation was with Daniel, the Team Captain and member of the building team, who is a very impressive young man to talk to, polite and knowledgable. All team members appeared dedicated and were very helpful to everyone who came by to look at this rather interesting looking car.

As of this writting, the Solar Knights team is at the Dell-Winston School Solar Car Challenge, http://www.winstonsolar.org/challenge/ , where they are competing in a race that takes them from Texas to New York. Teams participating in this competition are from Mississippi, Texas, Conneticut, Missouri, New York, and California.
