The Langham Creek YMCA located at 16725 Longenbaugh, Houston 77095 is having a food drive that will benefit the Houston Northwest Community Center and it will run through December 23, 2011.  You can drop off non-perishable items if you would like to help those in need who might otherwise go hungry.  For further information, call (281) 859-6143 Extension 205.
Non-perishable items suggested by the Houston Food Bank for food drives are things such as peanut butter, canned vegetables, and canned soups with meat or beans.  See the complete list.

Although the Oil Ranch is not in Cypress, it's just a short drive away, located in Hockley, TX.  It's about a 30 minute drive from Cypress and almost anyone with kids has been there either for a school field trip, family reunion, birthday party or just to spend the day having fun on the Oil Ranch's 50 acres of wide open space.  Many companies have company picnics there also.  It's a great place to get away from the office in a relaxed atmosphere.

The colors of Fall will be with us for just a little longer in Houston and then all these beautiful colors will carpet the ground.
I looked out into the back yard this morning and couldn't believe I hadn't noticed this tree that has turned bright yellow and orange.  Pretty soon all the leaves will fall and it will be bare for a couple of months and then will start to bud out again, probably in mid February.  But this is the time of year it is the prettiest.  These colors won't last long, but … (4 comments)
