Millersville’s 250 Years of Community Celebration kicked off Saturday night February 26, 2011 with a fashion display, dancing through the decades, and fireworks. Steven DiGuiseppe and Mary Ann Gerber, co- chairmen of the Millersville 250 committee, met us at the door in period costume. Several other committee members were also present in period costume. Clothing most probably worn by earlier citizens of Millersville were on display under the basketball net in Millersville University’s Pucillo Gymnasium. A slide show of historical photos of Millersville through the past 250 years entertained guests as they mingled.

Whoopie Pie War - 02/19/11 04:50 PM
When I first heard about the discrepancy between Maine and Pennsylvania over where the first Whoopie Pie originated from, I thought the dis-agreement would be resolved peacefully. But the disagreemen seems to be turning into a war with an article in The Wall Street Journal, Maine’s intention to declare the Whoopie Pie the State Dessert, and a rally being held in downtown Lancaster, PA today, it doesn’t look like the war will be over anytime soon. “What the heck is a whoopie pie?” you ask. It is a 2 chocolate cake-like cookies filled with a creamy filling that resembles

Wow 250 Years for our Lancaster County borough! Since its founding in 1761 by John Miller, Millersvile was originally called Millersburg then was named Millerstown before it became known as Millersville in the 1800s. Then came Inns and hotels, the post office, the stage coach and trolley, the Normal School, cigar factories, and other businesses and educational institutions. To celebrate 250 years of community, The Millersville Historical Society, Millersville Lions Club & the Millersville Woman’s Club are sponsoring events that kick off later this month and continue through December. Samuel S Lewis State Park - 02/15/11 06:55 PM
I had buyers looking at a home this weekend near Sameul S. Lewis State Park just across the Susquehanna River from Lancaster County and just outside of Wrightsville, PA. I have been here before but I forgot how spectacular the views are. Located on Mt. Pisgah which is 885 feet above the Susquehanna River, the park encompasses 85 acres of walking and riding trails, picnic grounds, ball fields and a play ground. I was fortunate to have the view to myself this weekend. So who was Sameul S.

Home Show in Lancaster - 02/11/11 03:13 PM
The sun was shining and the increased temperature ( a balmy 37 degrees) drove me outdoors this afternoon. I visited the Home Show at the Lancaster County Convention Center in downtown Lancaster today to check out the exhibitions. It looked like there was good attendance on the exhibit floor from Lancaster County consumers and I hope it extends to the weekend for the exhibitors. Saw a lot of green energy, bath room re-fitters and remodeling exhibitors as well as cooking & cleaning demos, landscaping

Working in the Rain? Have You Tried Working in the Clouds? - 02/08/11 11:46 AM
Like working in the rain? What about working in the clouds? A friend suggested this application that works in the "cloud". I can access files from my laptop or cell phone anywhere via an Internet connection. I can also share a file or files with others to collaborate on such as a listing presentation or a buyer report. You may want to work with a file on a MAC and a PC and have the changes synchronized easily without having to use a flash drive or external device. It's called cloud computing which in essence are files shared across a virtual

Did He or Didn't He? - 02/02/11 10:03 AM
It’s February 2nd known as Grondhog Day in our area. This year we have different predictions from two PA furry forecasters, one from the east and one from the west. Octorara Orphie from the Quarryville area in Lancaster County saw his shadow this morning and predicts 6 more weeks of winter. Orphie has been determining the arrival of spring for 103 years. Punxsutawny Phil, from an area northeast of Pittsburgh, didn’t see his shadow and is predicting an early spring. Phil is a little older than Orphie, celebrating his 125th year of predictions. To commemorate this year, Phil ventured
