Home investors are paying people to break into foreclosed homes to check appliances and lighting fixtures to search for Chinese Drywall. When banks release homes to go to auction, many are sold "as is". Investors attempting to beat the system, break into the locked up homes to determine if the investment is worth it.

A Fort Myers NewsPress article on Pending Home Sales being up 6.7 percent nationwide grabbed my attention today! The National Association of Realtors said that it was the highest surge in pending home sales since October 2001 when pending salesrose 9.2 percent. Lawerence Yun, the Realtor's chief adviser attributes the surge to the $8,000 tax rebate that first time home buyers can anticipate receiving if they purchase their new home by the end of the year. Columnist Mark Alexander shared recent reports by Fishkind & Associates that "Lee County lost 2,400 jobs in 2007, lost 11,000 jobs in 2008 and has projected a loss of 8,500 jobs in 2009." Economy.com reported that in 2008, 29 percent of all foreclosures were caused by people losing their jobs. Economy.com projects that 60 percent of all foreclosures will be caused by foreclosures in 2009. I was fascinated by the information Mark Alexander shared as a result of his research.
