Fall Flowers - 08/29/08 08:51 PM
This year I want to be festive.  I would love some fall flowers in the yard.  Does anyone have some suggestions for me?  I typically dont do much after the summer but I have decided I nned some fall colors and will continue throughout the seasons with greenery around December and plant some snowbells etc. for early spring.  I have a holly tree which seems to be pretty bare this year no bugs but just not happy.  I used hollytone but it has not helped.  Any suggestions for that?  Thanks fellow gardners

Thank you Gov. Patterson - 08/28/08 09:39 PM
We in NY are vey blessed to have Gov. Patterson.  He believes in doing what is right and better for New Yorkers and the way we live and work.  Gov. Patterson has signed into law a bill which Realtors in NY have been striving to get passed for over 20 years.... The Commission Escrow  Bill.  Also he signed in to law the Sex Offenders Bill which does not allow a sex offender to become licensed thus protecting our childern and safty of our industry.  I want to thank our Gov. Patterson and want to impress upon my fellow Realtors the importance … (0 comments)

the case for change - 08/28/08 09:22 PM
i received an email from another agents cliet today effectively ripping my professionalism.  Now before someone asks why would she write this ... it was not my fault.  her agent never called  and responded to ther so she thought  I did not respond to their agent.  COmmunication is so very important.   I replied to the email and said there must be a misunderstanding and quoted the time I spoke with her agent and that I did fufill my duties.  ironically, her agent did also communicate... but to the husband not the wife and guess who forgot to tell their wife?????   too funny! we … (0 comments)

melon water - 08/28/08 09:14 PM
Here is a cute story.... In our house we have a list which stays on the kitchen table and we write down what groceries we want or need for the weeks shopping.  Always there is some new drink or candy or health bar or something I have never heard of but manage to find in the store.  So off I go to the market for the weeks shopping.  My step son is a socor player and drinks every new vitamin water or smart water or what ever.... so I go through the list and my husband wrote down melon water.  I … (0 comments)

optimism - 08/28/08 08:58 PM
Optimism is contagious.... when some one is excited or happy and is positive others around them become infected with their optimism.  That is why when you go to a convention or to a speaking engagement you come out ready to go back to work and high on life.  I try daily to find something to be happy about.  granted there are certainly days which there is no possiblity of that... but isnt that what makes us human?  my friend said to me the other night whe i was having a down day. and had said i have hit bottom... mostly because … (9 comments)

where the buyers are........ - 08/19/08 01:52 PM
Answer... the internet.  i am not finding any coming from the NYT or our local newspaper.  I am finding them coming to open houses from postlets etc.  Curious as to what other Active Rainers are experienceing.  How is realtor.com doing for some of you?  DO you have the expanded services with Realtor.com?  I held an open house two weeks ago nd had 10 people all except one was from the internet.  SO much for expensive print advertising.

For Rosanne... my trampoline - 08/19/08 01:46 PM
So I broke down and decided after watching the olympics and feeling very athletic... I would buy a trampoline.  Not only did I buy the trampoline, I sat it up all by myself>  It was not that hard to do despite what people say.  Infact the salewsman who sold it to me said it was a "4 beer job"  Thant was a new one I never had heard before.  Well it was really more like a 4 water job because it was up and together within 30 minutes and I was jumping.  Of course I really purchased it for my step … (0 comments)

olympics. friendly competition we realtors could learn from - 08/10/08 06:12 PM
how is it that all of the athletes compete agains earch other for the coveted gold metal and at the end hug and eish each each other well or congratulate and support the effort their fellow athletes made.  We as realtors could learn a thing or two about that.  we compete with each other for sales, listings, and clients and customer, but not in a friendly manner.  I have seen agnets go at each other, talk about each other in not nice ways and act unprofessional.  never do we see olympic athletes act in a manner other then would make their … (1 comments)

would somebody just call it what it is? - 08/08/08 09:10 PM
FOr three or more years everytime I opened the newspaper I read about the bubble.  I read about it being a sellers market, I read how buyers were fighting to buy a house and loosing.  Would somebody print the headline it is now an official buyers market?  If we call it what it is buyers may begin to feel more secure.  We all know we are heading towards the bottom or have already reached it.  Next comes the flat line and then the upwards climb again.  By the time we see the increase.... the lowest point has long passed.  The time … (0 comments)

super bowl vs olympic commercials. - 08/08/08 09:04 PM
super bowl wins hands down.  the opening ceramony is great (i am still watching it)  but the commercials are only ok.  the one i have enjoyed the most wee the budweiser horses. all the others have been trying a bit too hard as far as I am concerned.  What I love about super bowl comm is they are fun, exciting and we remember them at least for a day or two.  they all try to out do the other.

OLYMPICS - 08/07/08 08:22 PM
I am really excited for the Olympics to begin.  My favorite sport is Diving followed by gymnastics.  What I love to see is the love the athletes have for America.  I can't wait to see our young Americans parade tomorrow t the opening cer.  I hope you all remember to cheer our athletes on and and cheer our country on.  Once every four years in the summer and winter I feel a renewed burst of energy.  This year it seems to mean more than some others have.  I felt the same way right after 9/11.  We ae a great country... I need diet help. - 08/07/08 08:13 PM
ok I know this has nothing to do with real estate but I need some serious help  In the past two years I have gained 15 lbs.  Yes you read that correctly.... 15 lbs.  I cant take it off but I can easily put it on.  I know the simple thought of eat less move more.  But honestly I need some motivation, some support, some help and guidence and someone who understands this is hard and has been there ...or is there and can give me some good pointers to start me in the right direction.  Looking to hear what you … (3 comments)

real estate is not an individual sport - 08/07/08 08:03 PM
It seems lately most of blogs are me ranting and raving.  really I usually am a happy, positive person.  Maybe this market changes people and I seem to share my thoughts with you guys reading posts.  Tonight I had a training class for instructors since our state changed the salespersons licensing form 45 to 75 hours (about time!)  SO all the instructors came in to review the changes in the course outline.  SOme of our instructors are lawyers.  Now before any lawyers reading this get angry with me... please note my father (may he rip) was a lawyer.

How can it be??? - 08/07/08 04:07 PM
Tell me please what I am missing.... How can it be that a homeowner is ready for forclosure and is too busy to provide documents to me for 4 more days????  Are you kidding me.  Every day... no, every hour is important to finish paperwork and save a forclosure, but a party this weekend is more important.  This is beyond denial.  This is insane!  If I were loosing ,my house, everything except my health would come before.  Perhaps that might be why they are in this position in the first place.  I keep trying to remind my self of that saying... … (0 comments)

what do you want on your state association website? - 08/05/08 07:26 PM
If your state were to re design its website, what would you want it to look like and what would you want the content to be.  Do you like your own states website or is there another one you like better?  NY is currently working on a website redesign and I am curious of what you active rainers would like to see if you could have your wish.  I know for our current site my big wish is a better search engine.  That one should be easy to solve... but if you could have anything you wanted what would it be?????  … (1 comments)

agent reality tv show back! - 08/03/08 08:12 PM
million dollar listing is comming back.. I have to tell you, it may sound like a busmans holiday to come home and watch a tv show about real estate agents.  But this was the most entertaining show I have ever seen.  I was addicted to it last year and I used so many examples of what to do and not to do in my teaching classes to new agents.  I encourage everyone to grab a glass of wine sit back and watch Million dollar listing.  I think it is on Bravo...I am blanking at the moment.  But I think I am … (9 comments)

Growing up at a glance - 08/03/08 07:56 PM
I remember growing up in Scarsdale and White Plains built the Galleria Mall.  Wow was that "cool" (back in the day)  I also remember my mother not loving my mall runs with friends.  Now fast forwarding to today, I hear my olderst step son asking to go to the mall.  However now it is not The Galleria, it is The Westchester!  Where shopping demands the use of a credit card!
I remember going to dinner with my parents and going out for a pizza, or a corned beef on rye.  Today its sushi, or a steak, or something fancy and expensive.  … (3 comments)

I dont understand some agents... - 08/03/08 07:44 PM
I received a telephone call last evening from one of my sellers (listings).  They arrived home to find their front door left unlocked, the sentri lock (NAR's lockbox) left open and the key gone.  Of course the last agent in refuses to acknowledge that they did not lock the house or put the key back.  Funny thing is.... with sentri lock I know who was in and when they left.  This agent because they never closed the lock box still registers.  If you walk out with the key and just shut the door and forget... just say so.  Many agents do … (1 comments)

you think its not happening in your market..... - 08/02/08 03:15 PM
I have heard so many real estae agents speaking about the area they sell in and saying we dont have short sales here, or many forclosures, ...think again.  I sell in Westchester, some of my market area are very high end communities.  i have two sellers right now who are in this situation.  Agents need to wake up and realise this happens in every market.  in the low, middle, and high end markets.  I beg agents to not take advantage of these sellers.  pass the listing up and let them go to an agent who can help them or is willing to … (6 comments)

short sale, reo... help - 08/02/08 02:46 PM
So.... I had a call from a seller who I interviewed with last year for the listing of their house for sale.  We could not agree on price.  I received a call the other day from them and the conversation was grim.  They are now in the process of loosing their house.  They called me to help them find a rental.  Through the course of the conversation i learned that they have a first and a second mortgage.  One of them was with INDY MAC.  They are now with REO. Can some one tell me if there is any hope to … (3 comments)
