wenatchee: REAL ESTATE MARKET IN WENATCHEE, WA IS CHANGING... - 11/20/10 12:06 PM
... but probably not in the way you are thinking! It snowed last night and this coming week we are supposed to see temperatures in the single digits! As a REALTOR in the Wenatchee/East Wenatchee area this creates a whole new set of circumstances we have not thought of since last February. For example tomorrow I am doing an open house from 1-3. If the house is vacant this weekend I need to be sure and show up early to clear the driveway and a path to the front door. Also turn the heat up so the house is comfortable. While I am

wenatchee: Wenatchee Valley - 05/29/10 08:30 PM
The Wenatchee Valley is a great place to live or visit! Housing in the Wenatchee area is comparatively affordable and the cost of living has a couple pluses from weather, cheap power and local agriculture that help make up for some other higher priced items. We are only 2.5 hours from Seattle, have 300+ days of sunshine and in general lots of great amenities. If you are thinking of living or moving to the area, buying a house in Wenatcheeor just having a vacation home on Chelan or Douglas County water front property well check us out. Tohelp a little, here is

wenatchee: Remember when? - 11/27/09 10:50 AM
I enjoy writing an occasional piece for the local paper. It is a change of pace and tests skills I don't always use. This particular one is about growing up in Wenatchee and the role radio played... much better than TV...lol! Anyway for those of you that might be interested or that want to take a short step back in time and remember how we grew up you might find this link of interest http://tr.im/FWXo It was another day and time and we do all grow up (ok, Peter Pan excepted) but it is fun to stop and remember... thanks for

wenatchee: Wenatchee and the Columbia River in Fall - 11/08/09 11:18 AM
Last week was a beautiful fall week weather wise. Great, spectacular weather is something we experience in Central Washington (entirely different from the West side i.e.Seattle). Sky was blue, air was clear and foliage was in full color. Just time for a quick walk along the Banks of the Columbia River. One of the special features of our town is the development, in the last few year, of a river walk/trail system. Initially the loop was about 11.5 miles in length. Today there are several additional extensions. But it is a great place to be, relax and exercise. I started near

wenatchee: TWITTER IN NORTH CENTRAL WASHINGTON - 06/04/09 09:55 AM
You see and hear lots of people pushing Twitter as a sales tool. Is it really? Is it just a sales tool or do you need to use it in other ways too and gain sales through the back door? Lots to consider and there are many approaches an none are 100% correct. If you live in North Central Washington and can easily get to Wenatchee you might want to consider the following: " TWITTER TECH EVENT At the Wenatchee performing Arts center. Sponsored by the PAC and Wenatchee Chamber. Free! From 5-6:30 on June 17th. Time to network after..." This

wenatchee: Life in Wenatchee WA - THEN - 05/26/09 04:47 PM
I blog on the Wenatchee World about events in the past in Wenatchee. Some are current but many are historical. My intent is to give a flavor about the community, our roots and help us understand where we are going. There is some humor, some tears and a few just stories. Perhaps it si something that all of us in a small way may relate to. So if you are interested, I invite you to check out the blog and my newest post at http://blogs.wenatcheeworld.com/author/pcornell/

wenatchee: Wenatchee, WA - 03/12/09 08:41 AM
For a bit of perspective on what it is like (was?) to live in Wenatchee and to get a feel for the people and places you may want to check out my blog (and others at the same place) on Living in Wenatchee http://blogs.wenatcheeworld.com/author/pcornell/ Nothing fancy but it is fun and it does provide a bit of insight if not to the Wenatchee area then at least to the authors background. Always open for constructive comments too. It is not all that unique nor is it a Saturday Evening Post Cover but it is a glimps of americana... enjoy!

wenatchee: Wenatchee Should Be Proud - Again - 02/28/09 08:35 AM
In January of '09 I wrote about an event that was put together by the community for budding musicians. An opportunity for professionals and students to meet and work together (http://activerain.com/blogsview/887356/Wenatchee-Should-be-Proud). Last week a similar event happened but this was not exactly planned. Chanticleer (sp?) a 12 man vocal group from SF was at the Wenatchee Performing Arts Center. They were, in a word, FANTASTIC! I had never heard a male soprano (not falsetto). It was an opportunity that the roughly 500 people on hand really enjoyed. After the performance the music teacher for Wenatchee High School, smuggled his acapella choir

wenatchee: Wenatchee Should be Proud - 01/18/09 09:01 AM
Last night I attended a Jazz Concert at the Performing Arts Center. There were six musicians from the LA area. All were friends and soon going on a tour. All seemed to have, Doc S, The Tonight Show and NBC in common, judging from the Bios. And they were excellent. Their performance was in conjunction with our own "Big Band" whihc is also pretty good. Here is the important part, and why I am writing this post. Because of the activities of several local residents these musicians came here not just for the concert but to spend a full week with

wenatchee: Wenatchee, WA and the first snow - 12/13/08 09:54 AM
Not much to write about but we did finally get some snow. So far about an inch but more is forecast for the weekend as well as lower temperatures. If you are not familiar with Wenatchee we are close to the geographic center of Washington State. IN the summer we have a couple weeks (usually late July and first of Aug) where temps get to 100 or so. Though because of our location they also cool down to the high 60's at night. In the winter we also get a few weeks of snow...usually off and on and not much more

wenatchee: Wenatchee Unemployment at a new low - 07/20/07 09:03 AM
We have and have had a good real estate market. It shows some cracks and some indications of decline but not a flat out free fall. Too many positive factors. Our market is fueled by recreation, retirement and job growth. here is an article from the local paper about jobs in NCW . It mentions the decline in residential construction jobs as a side note. Actually according to the builders and contractors i talk to the lack of lots and slow down in application time for lots and new construction have caused a backlog and some of the decline in that sector.

wenatchee: Going out in Wenatchee - 06/18/07 08:21 AM
Wenatchee's Performing Arts Center is a great addition to life in Wenatchee! They have a wide range of programs. Recently the cast of Whose Line Is It Anyway. In the near future Capitol Steps, Tennessee Three (I am helping to sponsor), plus a season long family/Children program, Opera, dance and Mariachi... to name a few events. But it is non profit. The last two years they have turned the corner and are starting to carry themselves and pay of debt. But it is a small, first class facility in a medium sized town so the specter of financial failure is never far

wenatchee: Wenatchee - Apple Capital of the World - 04/21/07 09:37 AM
The other day I was showing a long term client some property in the area. This client, originally from Hawaii, was explaining how wonderful Hawaii was but also how boring... same weather, same wind , same temp same day. On the other hand one of the reason they were locating to Wenatchee was generally good weather but even more important the Four Seasons... Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall. I have to admit, it is one of the features I like best. Not only does it provide a wider array of activities (because of changes in weather) but each season is different;

wenatchee: A Wenatchee Must See! - 03/31/07 12:31 PM
There is a hidden jewel in Wenatchee. Anyone interested in locating to Wenatchee or already living here should take the time to get acquainted with The Performing Arts Center of Wenatchee. Built about 5 years ago for approximately $7MMin public and private funds it is a treasure to the local community. The quality of the facility has received notice. But the quality of the productions is over the top! (Ok, Ok, I am related to the director... my daughter) It really is a valuable contributor to the community. If you haven't take a minute and check out the Performing Arts Center of Wenatchee.

wenatchee: Why Wenatchee - 03/26/07 10:57 AM
Good question. I guess under it all I grew up here. But I have lived a lot of other places and keep coming back. Could be the weather. With 360 days of sun (according to the CofC and I think some of those days the sun needs to be caught with a stop watch) moderate temps, low rain fall it is an area to be enjoyed. Located at the geographical center of the State the "City" is about 150 miles East and West (Spokane and Seattle) so a quick trip or over night getaway is easy to do. Recreation? Got that. wenatchee: Real Estate Tips - 03/05/07 09:39 AM
I frequently Blog over at my Wenatchee Real Estate Blog and today I was making a general entry about Wenatchee (aka River City) and the general market. I pointed out that I am a bit of a contrarian. That is when everyone, everyplace is talking about how good real estate in Wenatchee is (especially when I am getting a shoe shine in Seattle and the shine guy is telling me) then I think it is time for a little caution. Not saying watch out...yet. Just a little common sense. Anyway drop over to my other site and take a look. You will

wenatchee: 2007 off to a good start in Wenatchee - 02/28/07 11:01 PM
First off, as bad as some would have you believe 2006 was, it was the third best year, nationally, since NAR started keeping statistics (1952). What is always of interest is Real estate is largely a local issue controlled by local events. As a result what is happening in San Diego is not Tulsa nor Dallas. Seattle is not Wenatchee and so forth. Certain national events and trends may effect the local market but we have also seen examples of local markets going the exact opposite of national. So (as I have said before), my reality is what is here, it is
