Corolla, NC Charter School Update - 04/25/10 06:03 AM

Corolla is still in the running for being the 100th, and final  community ti get a charter school in North Carolina, The Corolla Education Foundation sent an application to the Office of Charter Schools in Raleigh back in February. Representative Owens and Senator Basnight both sent in letters of support for WEVS to the Office oof Charter Schools in Raleigh. At that time they were competing with 16 other applicants.
Last Week the Office of Charter Schools a review board voted on the 17 applications, and WEVS was one of the 6 to make it to the final round. The applications have now … (2 comments)

One of the things that still has not been announced yet for the possible Mid-Currituck Bridge is where should it land?

Bob Green of www.OBXGreenPoll.com conducted a survey to find out what the public opinion was on where the Mid-Currituck Bridge should connect to the Outer Banks. Here are the results that were email to me.

Crews Move Ship Wreckage in Corolla, NC - 04/11/10 12:33 PM
Earlier this week the wooden ribs of possibly the oldest shipwreck to be found on the Outer banks of North Carolina were moved. Uncovered this winter, the remains were moved from the beach in Corolla, NC where it has been resting for maybe three hundred years.

A New Outer Banks for the Old Vacationers - 04/04/10 06:52 AM

People who have been coming to The Outer Banks of North Carolina should be aware of some "Green" changes that have happened since last Summer.  The obvious change they will notice is that when they go shopping they will be getting paper not plastic. The legislature passed a ban on plastic bags on the Outer Banks about 9 months ago. The changes that are not as obvious, but are important for out of state vacationers to know, is that North Carolina has made it illegal to throw away plastic bottles or aluminum cans into their land fills. · Outdoor water use can account for up to 50% of total water use for a home during the summer months.
· Homes with automated irrigation systems are more likely to overuse outdoor water (i.e. wasted water running down sidewalk).
