Here is an excerpt from a report dated July 30, 2010 from the the North Carolina Department of Transportation/Turnpike Authority about the Mid Currituck Bridge. Feel free to draw your own conclusions.
Mid-Currituck Bridge The Authority is progressing with the environmental study process for the Mid-Currituck Bridge in Currituck County, a seven-mile, two-lane toll project that would cross the Currituck Sound connecting the Currituck mainland at U.S. 158 near Aydlett with N.C. 12 on the Outer Banks south of Corolla. It's the week-end I wanted to do something a little more fun. I heard a song on the radio last night on my way home then really had me wanting to put the "Pedal to the Metal". :-)
This got me thinking. We all have those songs that when they the come on the radio somehow our speedometers seem to creep up another 5-10 mp, and they are probably the same songs for many of us. But I'm not talking about that unconscious reflex. I'm talking that one special one, that when it comes on you knowingly want to floor it and pray there are no police nearby.

Anyone planning to visit the wonderful Outer Banks of North Carolina should plan a stop at the Whalehead Club in Currituck Heritage Park for their annual Arts In The Park. This is always a great event right up against the Currituck Sound in Corolla, NC. The event will be on Wednesday Sept. 1st from 10:00 AM  until 7:00 PM and on Thursday Sept. 2nd from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM.

Driving in Carova, NC Tip #1 Drop Your Tire Pressure - 08/13/10 11:40 AM
Running at full pressure will increase the odds of getting stuck (towing starts at $120 cash or check), and put more stress on your engine which can lead to a fire. Many believe that for your standard SUV 18psi will still be enough to do all your around town driving without inflating, but for the best beach driving you should be down to 15psi and maybe even 10psi.

811: The Number To Call For A Different Situation - 08/11/10 06:13 AM
Since today is  August 11 (8-11 day), I thought I would share a different phone number the is useful in North Carolina. It is 811, and it is an important number to call before digging across our state!
You should call 811 before any digging project - large or small. One free call to 811 a few days prior to digging starts the process of having underground utility lines marked. This simple call reduces the chance of diggers unintentionally striking a utility line and causing inconvenient outages, harm to themselves or someone else, and/or repair costs.
