Wordless Wednesday: Wild Horses in The Snow - 12/29/10 06:18 AM
Here in Carova, NC one of the big past times is taking pictures of the Corolla Wild Horses.  They are very photogenic, and how often to you get to see wild horses roaming the beach.  This week, however, we got an extra special treat. We got a snow fall that actually accumulated and stayed on the ground giving us a once in a lifetime opportunity to see the horses in a new perspective. This picture was taken from a member of one of the local forums.

I have always made the stand that I am a resident FIRST and a Realtor second. The last thing that I want to see happen is for Carova to become a 4-wheel drive Whalehead. at the same time we have A LOT of undeveloped, privately owned lots, and I believe every lot owner has the right to build on their own land with in the limits of the law. What we need to do is to continue working on getting more lots turned into conservancy easements or donate them to the Wild Horse Fund. If you are paying taxes and/or mortgage payments on property that is perhaps unbuildable, in protected wetlands, or for other reasons of little use or burdensome to you, you may be interested in placing your land in a conservation easement. We don't get much snow here in Carova, NC, but we still try to keep the Holiday Spirit alive as best we can.
Even our neighborhood recycling center, affectionately called "The Dump" does what they can to celebrate.

For one stop shopping to get the information on what is happening on the Outer Banks, the place to go to is OuterBanksBreakingNews.com.  This site has very little in the way of bells and whistles.  It is a simple little feed site with broken down by both Categories (i.e. Boating & Fissing, and Real Estate) and by Locations (i.e. Carova & Corolla, and Southern Shores).  They give you an up to the minute column being feed through Twitter, as well as a more in depth column fed through their FaceBook fan Page. This is a questions that comes up a bit when I meet buyers who are unfamiliar with this part of the Outer Banks. The costs are going to vary greatly from house to house. They partially determined by the house itself (age & quality of construction), where it is (lot location), and from how it is being used (rental or second home).
Your expense categories will typically include:
 
Mortgage payment - down payment, interest rate, and term of loan will affect this cost
