A Few Down Home Tips for Battling Skeeters, by Jennifer Prestwich- your Adams County, Belle Creek and Dunes Park REALTOR®
Although spring has loomed stormy and wet here in Adams County, the heat of summer will soon be upon us.  Our Belle Creek and Dunes Park lawns promise to be lush and green with all the rain!
The other thing that extra ring brings to Adams County?  Mosquitoes!
Back when I was a kid, we loaded on the Off- in aerosol cans, no less- and went out to play.  But times have changed, and nowadays, us parents are looking for … (6 comments)

Pieces of the Puzzle- Marketing
To be quite honest, I had forgotten all about it.  Not in a total-amnesia-type sense, more in an "oh-yeah-THAT-thing" kind of way.
My good friend Amber is very passionate about her dogs and is active in volunteering with Lifeline Puppy Rescue.  Lifeline is a no-kill puppy rescue located in Adams County, and has been in operation since 1993.  Both of the dogs that I have had were Lifeline puppies, and nearly all of my friends who have adopted dogs have done so from Lifeline.

Who is Your Audience? Careful of TechTalk - 05/22/11 05:16 PM
Once upon a time, I took a communications-type class.  i can't remember exactly what the class was all about, but the one thing that stuck with me was the danger of using technical language.
You may be thinking: Me?  Use technical language?  I'm lucky that I know how to enter a blog post, I'm no techie...!
Au contraire, mon frere.  We all do it.  TechTalk of this sort doesn't mean the stuff of IT guys and gals.  It happens any time you are using industry specific terms in front of people who aren't familiar with it.

Like I Was Sayin' - 05/22/11 01:15 PM
Wow- Charita really got me thinking today!  Admittedly, when I started reading, I thought she was going to report that she had gotten the seller to "see the light" and reduce their price.
It really has me thinking about how we manage expectations and how we can further assure that the higher priced home attracts a buyer.
Thank you, Charita, for allowing me to re-post!

The Customer is ALWAYS Right... Even When They're Not
You may or may not know that, once upon a time, I was in the fast-paced, highly dramatic world of fine jewelry retail.  I was pretty good at my job, selling designer jewelry and diamonds to fantastic people who truly appreciated fine art.
In my dreams.
I was an excellent saleswoman, and topped my sales goals often.  But even typing that title gave me a bit of acid reflux when compared to some of the war stories I could share....

Beat BOREDOM by the Letters! - 05/16/11 01:39 PM
Beat BOREDOM by the Letters!
It is funny how the sun is really our lifeline here in Colorado.  We are constantly bragging about having 300+ days of sunshine per year... until we get a couple of rainy days in a week and we are thrown for a loop!
Last week, we had gray weather and rain, and people got into a FUNK.  Once people start to grumble about the weather, BOREDOM sets in and then you are in real danger....
So let's beat it- by the LETTERS!!!

Springtime in the Rockies- What to do About Your Roof After a Hail Storm
Springtime in the Rockies means all kinds of weather- sun, snow, and hail.  But, what do you do if you think you need a roof repair or replacement?
If you notice pitted shingles or if shingles have blown off your roof, you may need to have it repaired or even replaced.  To determine the best way to go about this, I asked Adrian Feijoo, a State Farm Insurance agent.  Adrian is a Colorado native actively involved in our community, truly embracing the “Good Neighbor,” motto.

Kids These Days... - 05/11/11 10:41 AM
Kids These Days...
This morning's news was typically replete with mentions of kids bringing guns to school and how much middle school kids really know about sex and drugs.
Frightening stuff. It begs the question: what is to become of our nation with our youth acting this way? (Yes, I realize this makes me sound like and old fart!)  Then I was stopped in my tracks.
An amazing young man, Jaydin Goldenstein, has inspired me.
Jaydin lost his mother last week while he sat by her bedside. They had had a strained relationship when she was alive. She was a drug … (8 comments)

The Inside Scoop on Belle Creek Real Estate by Jennifer Prestwich- Your Belle Creek REALTOR®
It's been a pretty unpredictable market all around the Denver Metro area, and Henderson is no exception.  Belle Creek has seen a bit of a dip in its turnover rate and its average sold price.
Here are the stats:
In 2010, there were 20 single family homes sold in Belle Creek.  In the past 12 months, there have been 16. The turnover rate for 2010 was 5.7%.  For the past 12 months, that has decreased to 5.1%. There are 3 New Town Builders homes available … (2 comments)

A Happy Mother's Day to Me- Paulino Gardens Denver Colorado
Well, Mother's Day is shifting to evening time and I've had a pretty good one.  Went to Paulino Gardens with my family and bought some veggies.  I can't believe that it is planting time here already!
My Summer Resolution is to nurture my garden so that it produces the salad that I have planted.  Tomatoes, cauliflower, carrots, beets, lettuce, peppers and radishes are down, as well as watermelon and honeydew!
Last year I got a little neglectful and many of my veggies were taken over by critters.  This summer, I vow … (10 comments)

Google U: A Little Keyword Help
I am not an internet Guru, nor do I play one on TV.  That is why I get so excited when I learn an easy trick that I can share!
My RE Coach shared a little trick with me the other day that has my head spinning.  No more guessing whether the keywords I have chosen are relevant to anyone besides me.  (The answer is that they sometimes aren't.  Gulp.)  I had heard of Google Adwords before and pay-per-click and Analytics and blahblahblah....  (Oh, sorry, I went to my happy place for a minute. … (15 comments)

My Momma Told Me:  Lessons Learned from Mom- sometimes in spite of myself...
With Mother’s Day right around the corner, I have been thinking about some of the things I’ve gleaned from my Mom’s wisdom.  This has been hitting me especially hard as my own daughter rapidly approaches teenager-hood.  I could swear I never challenged my mom like my darling daughter does me…. But I guess that’s another post…
Now, I know that my Momma took her role seriously, but I am also certain that she didn’t even realize the lessons she was teaching a lot of the time.  (I … (9 comments)

Three Things I'm Thankful for This Thursday - 05/05/11 05:48 PM
Three Things I'm Thankful for This Thursday

It seems like every single day comes a little faster.  When I open my eyes in the morning and look at the day ahead, every thing is spread out before me and the possibilities are endless.  Then I blink my eyes and it's dinner time!

Here in Colorado, we have had a bear of a spring.  (Granted, we haven't had one of those snowstorms that buries us, but it has been known to snow as late as June around here!)  It has been rainy and windy too many days to count. … (14 comments)

Shhhh!  It's a Secret: When in doubt UNFOLLOW!
I am a Twitter fan.  That won't surprise those of my AR friends that have looked at my blog for awhile.  It does tend to surprise a lot of people I meet, however.
A lot of people don't "get it."  That's ok.  They don't need to.  For me it's just another avenue of communication, a way to market myself and further differentiate myself during those inevitable times when I get "Googled".
But I do need to caution Twitter Newbies....  You do not "have to" keep someone on your Twitter Roll.  When … (7 comments)

3 FREE Fixes For Selling Your Home, by Jennifer Prestwich- your Belle Creek and Dunes Park REALTOR®

Spring is in the air, and home owners are shaking off the cold.  A spirit of rebirth is in the air with the grass greening up and flowers blooming!

Inevitably, some home owners start thinking it’s time for a change.  It might be time to think about a larger or smaller home, a new school district or job opportunity.

Today’s market is still heavily skewed toward buyers.  How do you make sure your home stands out without spending an … (8 comments)

My Top 3: Running with Jennifer Prestwich Your Belle Creek and Dunes Park REALTOR
Just this morning, Parade Magazine (supplement to the Denver Post) published its America by the Numbers article.  Guess who was right smack there in the first part of the article?  Colorado!
Seems Coloradans enjoy 2 of the top distinctions:  Skinniest State, and Top for Physical Activity.  In honor of these distinctive awards, here are 3 of my favorite outdoor fitness endeavors.
1. Adams County Regional Park Trails.  I positively love running.  It can be done anywhere, alone or with a group, and-aside from the shoes- it … (4 comments)
