santa clarita agents view: An Extraordinary Act of Kindness at Newhall Bicycle Shop - 11/29/08 05:08 PM
I was reading the "The Signal" our local community newspaper this last Friday Nov 28, 2008 and came across an article entitled "Giving, and giving thanks" The article was about a local business owner (Roger Hasper) and his wife (Shannon) and how they transformed the back parking lot of there bicycle shop into a Thanksgiving feast for hundreds (Approximately 300). Here is a local business man called to give back to his community. Why? he's asked, because "Matthew 25:35 tells you what to do" Here is an example of Faith in action, qouting scripture, an extraordinary act of kindness one man's

santa clarita agents view: Be careful what you wish for, it could come true? - 06/24/08 01:24 PM
I don't know about you but I remember a few years back saying to myself. My kids have such an entitlement attitude when did this all happen? They have no idea how lucky they are living here in the SCV. I began sounding like every other parent as I shot back at the snotty new teens who had kidnapped my kids in the back seat. "I had to walk to school when I was a kid. I had to walk back, and forth to school 10 miles each way, barefooted, on broken glass, uphill, and that was on a good day! I

santa clarita agents view: Who's got your back when your child is faced with insurmountable odds? - 06/16/08 10:32 PM
As a Parent we are called upon to lead our children along in life, to guide them, protect them, and to provide life sustaining nourishment. I was introduced to this video over the weekend at a men's retreat. On the surface it is your typical "National Geographic type video reinforcing the natural order of wildlife. But sometimes the order of things or outcome can be changed when you take a different approach to life. A nature paradigm shift? The symbolism found within this video is quite incredible as I relate it to life and it's challenges. But before I

santa clarita agents view: Got M.I.L.K ? - 06/10/08 03:29 AM
The first thing that probably comes to mind is a funny commercial or someone with a white mustache but this M.I.L.K. stands for Managing Information on Lost Kids. Everyday, parents think it can never happen to them. Yet everyday it happens, a child is reported missing in the U.S. Here are some sobering statistics. According to a 2002 study from the Department of Justice over 797,000 children (under18) go missing in the U.S. each year. An average of 2,185 children are reported missing everyday! 40% of parents of a missing child cannot supply a current picture. 34% of parents do not

santa clarita agents view: Losing someone you love is bad enough! - 05/25/08 08:34 PM
When I first moved out to the SCV I remember learning about one of my old schoolmates who had also moved out here in the valley. I'm sure for all the same reasons most young families moved out here. I would soon learn tragically of his sudden death at the age of 37. I could not believe it, he was so young!. He had a great job at the studios, had recently married, was a new father and living what most would call the "American Dream". I learned one day he just collapsed at home and died. I often wondered what

santa clarita agents view: How do you spell Love? - 05/22/08 01:44 PM
I was on line the other day watching Rick Warren speaking and he shared a thought that resonated in me. He asked those in attendance how do you spell love? Is this a trick question? Conventional wisdom and every academia would simply state that's simple L-O-V-E. But Rick spelled it differently he spelled it T-I-M-E. We tend to spend the least amount of time with those we deeply love? Why is that? I was asked the other day why do you go up to see your brother in law so often. Isn't it a two hour ride each way doesn't it get

santa clarita agents view: Going on vacation? How to get away, without getting all wet! - 05/20/08 02:46 PM
I am almost certain that this "to do" item is not on your list of things you need to do prior to leaving on your next vacation destination. Here's how to get away without getting all wet! We make checklists on paper or make mental notes prior to departing to our vacation destination. Did you bring the tickets? Check, Did you lock the door? Check, Did you shut off your water line to the washer? (Record scratching noise) What?, Why? Imagine for a moment that you leave for say just a week and your water line to the washer breaks (rubber

santa clarita agents view: This could make a huge impact on someone you love? - 04/25/08 10:41 AM
This was sent to me today. I did not compose it, nor do I know who the author is? It was not copyrighted, so I would like to share it with you. It reads on like this... Too Busy for a Friend... One day a teacher asked her students to list the names of the other students in the room on two sheets of paper, leaving a space between each name. Then she told them to think of the nicest thing they could say about each of their classmates and write it down. It took the remainder of the class period

santa clarita agents view: Granola Gourmet Bars You Don't Have To Be A Diabetic To Get It - 03/03/08 08:17 PM
How was I to know, my neighbor up the way is a Granola Gourmet. Jeff Cohen approached me the other day with a see through plastic container filled with Brownie Granola bars. Of course he had my undivided attention at that point as he began to share with me the story behind this new business he created from his own kitchen. "Here try this, these bars are not only good, but they are good for you" Well he didn't have to ask me twice and I began to chew on the first of many Granola bars that evening. My personal favorite thus far

santa clarita agents view: Maria's Deli In Newhall for great italian food - 02/09/08 09:44 PM
I finally made it into Maria's Deli in Newhall today after driving by hundreds of times wondering what the food was like each time. Well today was different I finally stopped in. I was greeted by Paul one of the young kids behind the counter taking orders who asked me what I wanted to order. I ordered a roast beef sandwich and browsed around the place. He asked me my name and immediately began addreessing me by first name. While I was waiting for my order I noticed a plaque with an article written by Josh Premako an editor with our

santa clarita agents view: Newhall Hardware has closed it's doors in Newhall - 02/09/08 05:31 PM
I drove past Newhall Hardware and did a double take as I read the fluorescent signs pasted all over the front windows stating "Quitting business sale" WHAT!! I almost crashed into the car ahead of me!! One of the oldest businesses in the Santa Clarita is going out of business. I still can't believe it. This was one of the few places you could still go where you could explain a project you were working on and get what you need. You could also count on some good advice on how to do it as well. I'm going to have to

santa clarita agents view: Mac's Project and the Michael Hoefflin Foundation join to battle child cancer - 01/25/08 01:21 AM
I met Chuck Maier at the Santa Clarita Business Expo a little over a year ago. Unlike the other booths who were selling their wares and services, Chuck had his own booth and was sharing information about his and his wife Teri's Project. What project? Mac's Project. What's Mac's Project? One of the most important projects I have participated in. Read below. I was touched after learning about her battle with cancer and took action. Many times we have good intentions but we don't follow through. This is a no brainer and I have been personally contributing by recycling my

santa clarita agents view: SportClips Haircuts In Santa Clarita A Cut Above Hair Salons - 12/22/07 02:50 PM
If you're a guy looking for a haircut in Santa Clarita there are not a whole lot of choices to choose from. You can either go to the local "Barber" like some of us used to as a kid, which is great if you want a buzz cut, or you can roll the dice and get a "super, fantastic" haircut. Better yet, you can go to a hair salon and pay 40+ bucks like the rest of the girls not including your manicure and pedicure. We shouldn't pay anymore or less for a haircut RIGHT GUYS!!! We should suck it up

santa clarita agents view: Chumash Inter-Tribal Pow Wow in Santa Ynez California - 10/03/07 06:57 PM
Larry Corbi made me aware of the 12th Annual Chumash Inter-Tribal Pow Wow at the Live Oak Campground in Santa Ynez. He also provided me with a flyer. I noticed that Robert "Bobby" Corbi teamed up with Darlene Athie on the artwork for the flyer. I happen to know Bobby as well and was unaware of his artistic talent on print. The Chumash Inter-Tribal Pow Wow is open to the public for two days starting Saturday October 6th through Sunday October 7th . The admission is free and there will be a dance contest, a drum contest, and plenty of arts

santa clarita agents view: Meet Nick Vujicic No Arm's, No Legs, No Future? - 08/06/07 07:36 PM
Imagine being born with no arms and no legs! Many of us, would probably curse God, give up, or have no reason for living. I was introduced to Nick at our church service at Valencia Hills Community Church in Valencia, California. Our pastor "Mike" played this video clip of Nick Vujicic during the service. This video gives us a small snapshot of this remarkable man. At the time we had not met Nick in person and we were all looking forward to witnessing first hand this inspirational man transformed by God who has no limbs, yet has no limits. I already have been
