Hard economic times often take a toll on families, marriages and relationships. Real Estate Professionals are increasingly hearing of a trend - which may remind folks of the movie, "War of the Roses."Current real estate market conditions have some divorcing couples looking to separate their lives, but realizing they can't afford to live apart until their home is sold. Unlike a few years ago, when many homeowners had loads of equity to share, and really good credit, current times are providing many glimpses of reversal of fortune. If you are one of those couples, and need … (2 comments)

May be it's time to appeal your taxes...jroosevelt@w.com, Janice Roosevelt, Keller Williams, PA & DE - 11/16/09 07:30 AM
PENNSYLVANIAfollow me on Twitter
Time to  lower your taxes? You could, you know by doing a "Tax Appeal."
Technically you are appealing the  assessment that was placed on your property and provides the basis for your tax bill.  In Pennsylvania, tax assessment appeals are handled at the county level. It is a straight forward process with the home owner providing the county tax appeals board with recent market data (neighborhood home sales, appraisals, etc.) regarding their home's value (an Appraisal by a Pennsylvania Certified Appraiser is generally recommended).
Based upon a short hearing and the documentation provided by the property owner, the board sets … (3 comments)

Getting a good appraisal....jroosevelt@kw.com, Janice Roosevelt, Keller Williams, PA & DE - 11/15/09 06:47 AM
As the housing markets across the country have shifted, sometimes dramatically, no one has been more center stage than the real estate appraiser. This professional swears to identify the accurate value of a property to support mortgage loans that are secured by real estate.
Ergo, the appraiser deals  with a variety of factors, including all parties of the transaction who have  a vested interest. It seems that coming up wtih the right info to support the sale is made all the more challenging by market shifts and especially where there are lots of foreclosures and distressed sales.
To add fuel to the fire, appraisers are prohibited from talking with the involved parties to get … (3 comments)

Matt Fetick is the new mayor of Kennett Square! ...jroosevelt@kw.com, Janice Roosevelt, KEller Williams - PA & DE - 11/04/09 05:54 AM
It's true! KW's Matt Fetick won the Kennett Square mayorial race 2-1  yesterday. Are we surprised? No! I guess it's time we started calling him "Your Honor." Rumor is they are already calling his Union St digs "The Mayor's Mansion."
Matt is quoted on Facebook as thanking all his neighbors and supporters AND, saying,"This makes turning 40 today a little bit easier." I gues so. Time to celebrate.   jroosevelt@kw.com
