As I have spoke about before everything in a home has a general life expectancy. With some things that expected duration carries some weight. The roof is a great example. This would include small roofs over say a porch like this one. The house is 9 years old. The little roof should therefore be nine years old. It should then be nearing the end of its life since it is a flat roof. Getting up on a ladder and taking a look at the little roof revealed that it had already been replaced. bad repairs: With Duct Tape & Caulk I Can Fix Anything! - 02/16/10 04:10 PM
How true that is in someone's world. I know because I see examples of duct tape fixes and caulking gone wild way, way too often. Take a look at this A/C duct. I found not long ago. The guy must have run out of duct tape and switched to painters tape. That'll hold real well for about a month. Then of course there is good old silicone caulk, the other duct tape. Just slop it on a leak or gap and presto! All fixed. Check out this dandy roof repair. There were water stains on some ceilings and also the roof

bad repairs: The Caulk Gun Strategy - 07/20/09 09:00 AM
When ever starting a project or repair it is good to begin with a plan. Proper prior planning helps to eliminate or reduce mistakes. Looking over a repaired newer roof not long ago the repair person here was operating with minimal strategy. According to the sellers disclosure a solar light tube had leaked and been repaired. There were some minor water stains around the diffuser in the living room which had not been fixed. The areas that needed to be thoroughly checked would be the roof and attic. The leaky solar tube was located on the roof and was found to have been
