Water in the Crawl Space - 12/15/07 02:12 AM
Today, i took a phone call about a lady saying here new born baby has been sick & the doc. can't find anything wrong with the baby.
I asked her some questions about the condition of the home & how long it's been since it was last inspected. She said that they had just bought the home 2 months ago & didn't have an inspection.
I had a hard time getting in the crawl space because of the standing water at the opening. I was a little shocked to see that the foundation was holding water & more than half the crawl space was under water. … (11 comments)

Plastic Barries for your Crawl Space - 12/10/07 02:54 AM
For anyone that own's a home with a crawl space this post could save you hundereds of thousands of dollars in home repairs.
Plastic or "Vapor Barriers" are very important in the control of moisture in your home. Moisture releases out of the ground and if not covered properly with a strong plastic barrier will allow high amounts of moisture to absorb into all the organic materials within your crawl space making you & your home sick.
Moisture starts covering everything in the crawl space making the environment perfect for wood rot, insulation falling out of the sub floor, rust to duct work and mold growth.

Sump Pump's - 12/10/07 02:12 AM
I know that i have talked about this before but folks seem to forget to have there sump pump's inspected once a year to make sure it still works. The worst time to find out is after your home is under water.
Take the time to inspect or have someone check it out for you.
